Are they after this lad given they've just bought Elanga?

Let's be honest he's not going to be in a rush to sign for us if champions league teams are interested. Paying Southampton more won't make any difference if there's genuine interest from better teams

it will tho if newcastle are like us and dithering we can get it done agreements made "cash" on the table...job done...
also look at who he'll be up against at newcastle...either on the wing or in mid fiels...in comparasion to us in either position....more game time with us i'd guess....
furthermore there's the "distance from home" equation to come into play for a young lad never lived away from home?
plenty of if's buts and maybes...but just stop being everton and get him signed if moyes wants him.

All very well except both Soton and the player can say they want to wait. Just because we want him doesn’t mean we have any divine right to him or that they have to work to a schedule that suits us.

I can see him going to Newcastle. Its seems very Newcastley.

I just don’t want to see Dwight McNiel start right wing against Leeds

Moyes has preferred Alcaraz there in pre season, don't think he is having McNeil.

If Grealish and Dibling aren't happening we need to move on quickly.

Not seen any real links to Newcastle and they aren't discussing it on their forum so I'd be surprised if they're in for him.
Speaking of Newcastle they paid £52m + £3m for 23 years old Elanga with 17 goal contributions last season. So that puts some context on the fee Southampton are asking for Dibbling.
Hopefully this gets sorted over the next few days but we do need to make sure we aren't getting completely rinsed here.

That sell-on % is crazy. Needs to be a % of profit or we risk making no money.
I'd hope we can get it done with £40m up front + £5m add-ons and maybe a 15% sell-on on profit.
I still think it's a big risk and you'd need him to become one of the best in the league to make proper money on him.
If the club believe that then so be it, go out and get him.
But the numbers being bandied about would mean even if we sold him for £100m which is crazy money, we'd only pocket £25m in profit. Risk-reward isn't there for us.

Never seen the kid play but if he's that good why would you want to come us to be in a (hopefully) mid table team.

I think people lose their heads in desperation that we signed someone. 40m plus 5 in add ons plus a sell on fee and that's the compromise
For someone with 2 or 3 goal contributions last season. That absolutely isn't the going rate even in this mad market. Also there's nothing really to suggest anyone else is even interested. I very much doubt spurs and Newcastle are at close to 50m plus a cut of any profit. They are both in the champions league and could get much more proven quality for that monet

When people say %sell on they mean % sell on clause on the profit, not the full future fee.
It’s just lazy journalism

I'm not sure that's true in this case, still seems rich but a bit more palatable.
