We’ll probably not get a season like this again with a load of the sides traditionally expected to be nailed on for the top 6 struggling. I’d be inclined to do whatever it takes to aim high from here.

An experienced striker in on loan to share the load with Barry might be the difference between Europe and a mid table finish. Not too bothered if Beto doesn’t play for us again.

This team as constructed isn’t up to anything even with a quality RB and striker. Midfield’s still not good enough moving the ball, left back is still poor, etc.

Our relatively safety is a free pass to give a whole bunch of young players minutes they would not have gotten in previous season relegation battles. Legitimately the best case scenario for this season given the players we signed last summer.
I disagree, I think theres a real chance of Europe here and a striker to push Barry and contribute with goals would be huge.

We aren’t ready for Europe. This season is all about getting people experienced and building for the future.

I agree, but it's not a popular opinion because "who wouldn't want Europe? This is what it's all about."

I think it's a big risk given the giant hole we've are still climbing out of.

I still think we should be taking advantage of any good loans or any opportunity to sign a right back.

Play the U23s in that Conference League and make the QFs no bother.

Be arsed with the conference. Its just a buffer to distract developing teams from challenging the CL clubs. Lots of extra fixtures with limited financial gain.

At least with the Europa you're likely already close enough to take a punt at establishing a proper European squad, to see if you can shoehorn youraelf into the CL spots, the following season.

Fans don’t work like that. If we qualified we’d all be kicking off if we didn’t put out a full strength team all of the time. If we qualified we’d be in the same position as Forest or Palace, which I think would negatively impact us in the long run.

But also getting into Europe impacts the level of player we attract in the summer.
Then even if we do get spanked by Young Boys (whatever, intended), the conversation we’re having is “We’re on the up, qualified for Europe last season, went out early but got some good experience and looking to build on it and qualify again, but this time we need the players to go deeper. Sign your name here, lad.”

Yes Europe would stretch us and we’d likely not do much the first time, but be arsed waiting until we have a squad who can win it who’ve never played in Europe before. That doesn’t work either.

Europe comes when it comes and you use it to build squad and experience.

I think the attraction of 'Europe' is a myth.

There's not going to be a significant number of players of any quality who would sign for us if we got a Conference League place that wouldn't sign for us if we didn't. Even Europa doesnt do much.

If we get it then its good for the fans for the away days, and good for the club for the extra gate/tv/prize money that it generates. For players it's just more travelling away from your home/family.

Think Champions League would sway some, but barring a miracle from the Moyesiah...

the conf league is so poor we could manage it next season even with just a few additions to the squad
RB CF CM etc
not ready for the europa just yet as more competitive
would take thurs/sun next season as the club redevelops its european status under davy moyes
we wouldalso have to be ok with being lower down the league due to the extra games in europe

I think the main difference of opinion here is between those that think qualifying for Europe won't really hinder us next year, or if it does, it will be marginal.

And those that suspect Europe next year could result in another relegation battle.

I'd slightly prefer some stability. But I also want rid of that 95 shout from the other lot, so will take any extra competitions I can.

Don't listen to them.

If we get mickey mouse Europe, then fine, as long as it doesn't inhibit any Premier League performance for it. (Which will be difficult)

We probably don't need reminding that clubs (with considerably more resources and squad depth than us) making Europa finals have consequently suffered in the league.

🗞️Everton have an interest in Blackburn Right Back, Ryan Alebiosu. Wolfsburg also hold an interest in the 24 year old Nigerian. Alebiosu however is currently away at AFCON
