I have to say, I really hope it is Moyes.

We had our frustrations first time round, of course, but no-one in the 35 years I've supported Everton has really done a better job in charge of the club. And certainly no-one since he left.

I'd trust him to do enough to keep us up this season - and even if he didn't, I'd probably back him to bring us up from the Championship - and I'd trust him with rebuilding the squad.

For me, there's a massive question mark over pretty much every other manager we could go for - there aren't any that stick out as obvious candidates capable of moving us away from the relegation zone, while remodelling the squad and playing a more attractive brand of football.

I understand it wouldn't necessarily be the most imaginative appointment, but I feel like his recent work at West Ham (who have struggled since he left) suggests that he still has something left to give. He took us from the Walter Smith days to finishing 5th/6th every season, going into matches believing - and, latterly, expecting - to win them. Nowadays, we dread every single match.

Football has obviously moved on since 2013, but even if he could take us to a few seasons of mid-table stability - with a fresher squad - it'd be a very welcome improvement.

I think the nature of his first interview when announced is going to play a big part in how well the fanbase get on board with him coming back. If he comes in and says the right things in terms of being humble about having the opportunity to come back, maybe even acknowledges that he has work to do to get the full backing of the fans, then I think that could help massively.

If he comes across as thinking he's doing us a favour coming back then it's going to rile the % of the fanbase who really were put out by the way he left and probably also by the perceived negativity towards the end of his reign especially.

I'm not looking for another "People's Club" soundbite, but I'd feel much better about him coming back if I felt like he genuinely appreciated the opportunity.

I think that in an ideal world, TFG would have stuck it out with Dyche until.the end of the season and let him run his contract out, whilst approaching a few more "sexy" appointments that may have been attainable and could have been sold the dream of making history and leading Everton out for the very first time in their brand new shiny waterfront masterpiece.

Unfortunately, once it became apparent that Dyche had thrown his hand in and was no longer fully invested, the priorities changed quite dramatically. First and foremost, we simply have to be a Premier League club at the start of the 25/26 season. TFG have made a massive investment, not only in buying the club from Moshiri, but also in taking on a massive financial responsibility in juggling around the loans for the new stadium. For that gamble to pay off, our profile has to be as high as it can possibly be. Having the best stadium in the Championship does not get anywhere near the same exposure as having a nice new stadium in the Premier League. They have simply had to go and get the safest pair of hands that they could as quickly as possible to give their investment the best possible chance of paying off.

Moyes is by no means a "sexy" appointment, although he does own some rather fetching cardigans. What he is, is a manager that knows the club inside out and should be able to hit the ground running. He is as good as we're getting right now without taking massive risks.

I also think that Moyes still has an affection for Everton Football Club. We were his big break in Football, his step up from a relative rookie championship manager into the big league. He spent 12 years here and learned how the big league works. There were ups and downs, but largely that period was one of relative steadies throughout. Yes we had a couple of scares, but more often than not we were among the best of the rest.

He's proven that he can be pretty canny in the transfer market, which for a.club in out position is massively important. Let's not forget that we have a lot of the squad out of contract this Summer and no guarantee that there will be wedges of cash to replace, so we still need to buy wisely.

It might not be the massive fairy tale appointment, but we're getting someone that we know won't be a disappointment either.

We know that Moyes is a grafter. He'll be first to arrive at Finch Farm and last to leave. There's absolutely no half arsing from him. Even when he knew he was off to Utd, he still gave his best right to the end. That's an example for.the players to follow.

Indifferent at massive expense and left us with with a new selection of shite signings

The job he had at Everton really isn't comparable to the job moyes benitez lampard and dyche had.

The 3-0 loss at home to Wigan in the FA Cup still haunts me to this day. 3 nil down at half time after 3 goals in 5 minutes or something like that from memory. Classic bottle job. …..so does the fact that a couple of years later we had Alcaraz, Kone and McCarthy in our team.

No Martinez got the Everton job largely off.the back of that FA Cup win at Goodison. They done us big time that day. He still took Wigan down that year though.
