There are some decent teams in the playoffs:
Real Madrid
Inter
PSG
Newcastle
Juventus
Atletico
Bodø/Glimt

A few others could make for a handful of decent games depending on the draw.

It does seem a bit pointless to play a couple of hundred games to lose napoli and ajax. Theres not a lot of threat. Feels like an endless stream of friendlies

Europe's had a lot to be ashamed of over the centuries with colonialism, endless wars, appeasement of Hitler etc etc but I'm not sure anything has been as bad as this Spurs team winning the Europa League and finishing 4th in the group stage of the CL the following year.

Says alot about the state of global football in general.

There is no real emerging talents like there used to be 20/30/40 years ago. Italy with the Del Pieros/Madlinis/Viallis. Messi and Ronaldo of the 2000. No real stars anymore either.

I dunno if in 15/20 years we see real substandard of players globally that are marginally better then a couple of leagues below.

Kids rather play tech/be digital creators and with the impact of AI not sure there is the lure of football for those growing up now.

That top 8 does feel pretty weird from seeing the PL every week. Does make you wonder about what on earth is happening in some of those other leagues when Spurs and Liverpool are sauntering through. Newcastle could've possibly got automatic qualification too, but they rested players for a CL game, which again seems bizarro.

Think it's the inevitable consequence of the massive concentration of resources in the Prem.

This format is backfiring, the gap between the Premier League and the reat is only going to get bigger. This format has eased that and continue to do so.

I'm expecting another meltdown from Real Madrid, PSG, etc about thier entitlement.

In a perverse way, I think for the neutral, the championship is a more exciting league. I know the quality is considerably lower (as you would expect) but it’s genuinely competitive. Look at the likes of Millwall as well (not that there is anything to like about that club). Far from being the biggest club in that league but right up there challenging. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day

I love watching the Championship, the quality is generally lower, but it's still great overall, definitely not bad. The fast paced nature, the strong challenges, no VAR, etc remind me of the Premier League 10-15 years ago. It's just a better viewing experience in a lot of ways, both on TV and in the stadium. I prefer it to the Premier League for casual viewing.

Having to face the absolute bullshit and gross behaviour of the richer clubs makes watching the championship balm for the soul.
