Not use keen on the deal, very difficult to recoup money with such deals even in long term unless he turns out to be a world beater. Even for a decent player like Richie we barely ended up making any money. Not sure, this is the kind of profile we should be going for as a club considering our finances.

Probably haggling over £5m now. The lad will be brilliant for us. It’s not paying for potential given how good and useful he is already.

And so what if you don’t make a profit out of him - if you get 5 years fantastic service and then sell him for £45m at the end of it, isn’t that great football business? We need to stop being so concerned about making a profit and more concerned about buying players that are going to make us a more competitive football club over the coming years. This lad will do that.

It's obviously Southampton's prerogative to make a deal as favourable to them as they possibly can - even more so given that we (and Newcastle, if they're even involved) seem to be struggling to get deals over the line.

The way I see it, for us, it's not even necessarily about making a profit on him (although, obviously, we don't want to lose money). Rather than seeing the money go towards keeping the wolves from the door, as we have in years gone by, even if we were to 'only' break even or make a small profit, you'd hope that he would've played his part in moving the club forward, and so we'd be better placed to attract more ready-made talent with any money we'd get back.

People seem to speak highly of the lad and the Southampton academy is great pedigree. Objectively, I think Everton would be an ideal club for him to continue his development - a step up from Southampton, but not elite-level expectations.

However, I'm not sure he has the end product we need to really push us forward (although I remember McNeil had very few goal contributions, which he has certainly improved on). It just feels like we'll forever be stuck in a cycle of waiting for things to come together for us. So, while it'd be great for us to sign a hot prospect, if we don't end up getting him, while disappointing, we should be able to put the money to good use for someone who'd make more of an immediate impact.

He was particularly good and useful last season for Southampton.

No news is good news hopefully, one thing we’ve not heard is Southampton turning down another offer, which could mean anything from us holding firm or walking away, or their arse goes. It’s not like there’s been bids by anyone else.

Sounds like a lame attempt to get Southampton to cave.

Aside from positions played, their profiles don’t look all that similar. Rigg nowhere near carrying the ball.

What happened to his flight? Did it arrive, did it then leave to fly to Newcastle or Southampton, did have leather seats, how attractive was the hostess, or pilot if that's what he or you would prefer.

Feel like there's a lack of commitment here people, we need the information!

Holding out for someone to leak the in-flight film as The Lord Of The Rings: Return of the King extended edition and someone to do the maths on what flight radius 4 hours and 23 minutes give you, once you’ve factored in how long it takes to climb to cruising altitude.
