What kind of change in tactics or formation or team selection would you make?
Would change a lot.
Would bring back the press from last season to start and make us harder to play through.
If we’re going to be direct then we need to get players in crossing positions. Put Young left back, Patterson right back, making life easier for the right mid so he doesn’t have to beat three men all the time just go cross the ball.
Id move ndyaie inside, and play lindstrom from the left. We’d look a lot better on the break with ndyaie breaking with the ball instead of Doucoure.
Would also like to see more patterns of play when we do break. They players clearly aren’t given instructions on where to be, what pass to play, how to get in good shooting positions etc. it’s all off the cuff.
The formation and the players aren’t the issue at this point. It’s what they’re being asked to do and not to do.
The players aren’t great but they’re a lot better than this.

If Ipswich hold on to their 1-0 lead, and Porto Guy's Wolves nick a 2-0 win at home to Forest tomorrow night, we drop into bottom 3, probably to stay there if we cant score a goal.
That is how close we are to a freefall into the shit - 3 goals. Time for Foghorn Leghorn to go.

Always an interesting debate the players v manager one, in case any of us didn't read it the 50 previous times it's been done.
Let’s just shut the forum then.
Results bad. Manager must be bad. Sack manager. Results good.
That better?

2:1 now... we need something from Villa but can't see it.

It's fine talking about it, it's just boring when the same one or two people feel the need to make the same points dozens of times every week.

Moyes is generally very slow at getting up and running, we used always get fed up that our season rarely started before December.
Sooner he retires and we can stop this monthly call for him to come back the better. You'd think there was no other managers out there.
Although the one time he got off to a fast start was in his first few months.
We waited until March to give him the job first time, just shows the changing nature of the PL. The expectations of teams are pretty much set in stone by Christmas these days.

Yeah that's incredibly daft. I'm not sure how they argument proves the players are better but not the manager. They all overperformed last season and they are all a bit shit really.
When we get a new manager and spend money will you be expecting an improvement on that 12th because I think you'll be disappointed if you do.
You’re saying all this when down at Craven Cottage, a team who were in League 1 a year ago with half a team of League 1 players have scored 2 goals away from home and now sit above us.
Lindstrom was doing well at Frankfurt playing in the middle of the park and that got him his move to league champions Napoli. He’s not a RW, that’s why he failed at Napoli. So, don’t play him there and expect anything in a more physical league.
N’Diaye scored goals for fun as a SS for Sheffield United in the league above where these Ipswich players are from.
Sorry if any of this has been said!

So why have we signed lindstom when the manager obviously wanted a right winger?
We are crap. We've made years and years of awful decisions and that sees us competing with Ipswich. It's a pretty weak argument that we should be better than Ipswich because we've got a player who used to score goals in the championship.

Just to geg in on this, I don't think it's entirely down to that. You improve players, implement patterns of play and earn your wage as a manager on the training pitch through the week. Tactics/Formation/Selection are obviously important but you could have the same XI on the pitch with instructions to 'press' under Hurzeler (who is currently at Brighton) and it would looked entirely different to what we see with Dyche even with the same players and formation.
That’s the approach that Lampard took. He spoke about it in interviews and all the training videos were about patterns of play and ball work and it was a shit show with basically the same players. The same players couldn’t pass, create, or score then and they can’t now. They tried to press teams a few times this season and completely failed at it. Most of the things people on here have been calling for have been tried this season and didn’t work

Lampard is a terrible manager though, the worst we've had from a tactical point of view. You can go to far the other way where you're just doing rondos all day in training and nothing else but vibes.

We were one of the best pressing teams in the league last season.
No we don’t even press and are the most passive team off the ball in the league. Why is that?
And yes, Lampard tried to play a different way but we was a very poor manager so had the right idea but couldn’t implement it right. Similar has happened to rooney.
Let’s not get bogged down again in the style of football debate.
You can play a similar way to what dyche wants and do it a lot better.

If he had any sense he wouldn’t play him RW sitting in front of “Youngy”, then. You’re taking snippets of what I say to make your own argument.
You know im saying a good young coach has a team with half a squad of League 1 players and are sitting above us. What is wrong with getting goal scorers from the Championship ?
We made our name under Moyes getting goal scorers from the championship, see Cahill. See Bowen now.
Anyway, I give up and will respond to you when the new coach gets a tune out of these players, has something resembling patterns or play and we sit comfortably in 12th.
Kind regards
