Fine as long as we improve on him.

More than capable back up.

Makes sense financially. Depressing in terms of the pitch.

Rather we just released him and forced ourselves into making an actual effort to sign a good left back instead of going “well we have mykolenko so we’ll leave it for a season”

Which we will 100% do

Well I can't see Moyes bringing Aznou into the fold any time soon.

Likely he stays for now as I can see us loaning Aznou out.

We're not going to just let his contract expire so no real surprise. He's a decent back up and means we can spend all our available LB money on a good one hopefully in the summer... Let him go on a free and we'd have to buy 2, so would be a ridiculous decision to not give him a new contract.

I’d boot him out tonight given the opportunity. What’s the point in having him wasting 50k a week stopping us actually employing a 1st choice LB.

Because otherwise you waste £15m+ and 50k a week wages signing a backup which takes that money away from what we can spend on a good first choice LB.

What's a bigger waste? Spending money on a backup and having less to spend on a good first choice, or retaining a backup without any outlay and having more to spend on a good starter?

I get he's crap and frustrating but the maths don't add up to letting him leave on a free.

Every week I'm astounded that he is our starting LB. Awful awful player.

Having a bad season, think missing the start of it has set him back from being below average to now a liability.

Always been a good one on one defender but that's gone which renders him pretty useless. Always been poor going forward but at least the defensive side was pretty decent. Just shows the poor long term planning that out full back options on both sides are so limited.

Thankfully Moyes is a full back kind of guy, so I doubt very much we'll be seeing either JOB or Mykolenko starting games regularly next season.

I dont know how we can be remotely confident we won't see them next season. If Id told you JOB was gonna be the starting right back this season and our left back cover wouldn't be deemed good enough to play a single minute (might be wrong but it feels like he hasn't played at all in the league) everyone would have said i were crazy. We cant have any faith that they'll address our problems when they didnt even attempt last time

Didn't have the money to do so, Moyes stated many times we needed more goals and given our lack of options with Doucoure, DCL, Harrison and Lindstrom all leaving we were always going to prioritise those positions.

Didn't attempt to last time doesn't equal to never bothering. Moyes built his team last time here on Baines and Coleman, he's not stupid, we'll address those positions in the summer.

If he gets a new contract he’s our first choice LB for the foreseeable

A new contract makes sense, currently have 7 player contracts expiring (including loans), at the end of the season. We don’t want another last season where we were attempting to improve the squad and increase numbers, we’re already complaining the squad is light.

We need to get to a position where we only have to focus on improvement rather than that and increase numbers.

We needed more goals but you look at our squad and you do that with attacking fullbacks and pace throughout the team. Did we address more goals? Arent we third lowest scorers or something

No we didn't, but also buying 2 full backs and no wingers, striker or attacking midfielders would have also seen us struggling to score. We didn't have the money to address all issues so it will take multiple windows.
