Gone v quiet.
Benj talking about free transfers now.
That's all she wrote on the spending imo.
Agreed. Hope we hear from Fabrizio (Pecorino) Romano.

I hope the recruitment team had a nice weekend off, and it's a bank holiday next weekend so an extra day in the garden chilling.

Feels like our window has died a death now. I do think that's pretty much everywhere though and that it will suddenly explode back into life when 100 clubs realise they aren't getting what the wanted and 1000 players realise champions league clubs are coming

Most transfer business is done towards the end right? Or maybe not but the end is a very hectic and busy period with lots done in a short amount of time. The easier deals and the powerful teams get business done early, the domino effects of ‘if he goes we will have to do this’ or ‘if this player gets sold that means we have this to spend’ - they all get done later.
I’m sure there will be more business in the last few days of the window, even though we need it now.

More deals get done towards the end of the window but they are generally less significant deals.

How long have we been saying that for though?
Back in July it was we’re waiting to get better quality deals in and we’re still four short.
I think both Grealish and KDH were two signings earmarked for late in the window but after moyes called the recruitment team out they’ve gone and got them done.
KDH was a loan but we’ve bought him because we know we’ll have a lot more spare cash.
All the noise coming from the club and local reporters has been we’re struggling in the market.
It’s probably time we all accept that this is going to be an average window at best and from this point it’s going to be overpaying for Dibling, or getting Tom Fellows and seeing who we can get in on loan or on a free.
It’s shite imo and I can’t think Moyes is happy which how we’ve approached this window this summer.

Feels like lots of clubs are struggling. Genuinely think we'll get 4 more, good players too. Think it's down to everyone trying to take the piss. Clubs want to sell players they'll probably have to loan and cover wages, buyers want loams for players that are worth a fee. Players all want to wait for the champions league offers which probably aren't coming
At some point everyone is gonna have to be more realistic and then they'll be lots of deals done
Also I do think we've moved the goalposts somewhat. We were talking about it taking multiple windows and most seemed to think 100m spend was optimistic. We've spent close to that and got a player on 250k a week on loan and now no one (including me) is happy
I think it's boredom. No football and just an empty void without any rumours either. Be massive if we could win today (and we should) Get us off to a good start and give us another week to make transfers without panicking

A lot of the frustration is the fact we haven’t bought a right back. If we’d have landed a starting RB I think the club wiuld be cut a little more slack. We’re out these spending cash on 2nd and 3rd choice GK and a 3rd LW when we haven’t had a proper RB for about 4yrs.

A midfielder and right winger and that will be 5/6 out of ten window I think it’s madness not getting a rb can’t be playing Jake there all season

This is it.
We’ve signed four players and only one of them was a priority in Barry.
Grealish is an exciting signing but occupies the same position as our best player. Still could work with him or Iliman moving inside but nowhere near a priority signing for us.
Same with KDH. Looks like he’s been brought in to play further forward so, again, not a priority.
Just strikes me as the club panicking and getting deals done for the sake of it to try to keep the manager and the fans happy.
Utter madness to not have bought at least one right back, defensive mid, or right winger at this point.

It's very frustrating to be starting the season short of players, but I'm sure we will see a flurry of signings in the next 2 weeks.

Plus we haven't won't a game in pre season, which a lot of the time doesn't mean much but this time its definitely a reflection of the state the squad is in.

Still way too early to judge for me. Let's see how we end up at the end of the window.
If we end up not adding much to what we have now, then they'll be rightly slaughtered. If they address the key areas with quality signings, brilliant.
