Seen a few people talk about the game in hand, but considering who the game in hand is against then I'm ignoring it entirely.
Palace are fine, well out of our reach once we get docked some more pointsKerryblueboy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 7:19 am We are so lucky that there are some woefully bad teams in the league this season Brentford and palace aren’t out of it yet either
'Here's a table selecting a period specifically where Everton haven't won, look how they sit on the bottom of that table.' How unenlightening and strange, @EFC_Statto.

Set up those parameters for any team in the league and they too would invariably be on the bottom, almost by definition.
Let's look at Sheffield United's first 10 games of this season, or Burnley's 10 since Xmas day?
Maybe we could do one for the first fortnight in December, pretty sure we'd top that 'league table'. For the first time in 22 years.
Yes mate, why do you ask?
Maybe it’s because we keep trying to play the same way even though it isn’t working because we have a stubborn coach who won’t change itCods wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 11:34 am 'Here's a table selecting a period specifically where Everton haven't won, look how they sit on the bottom of that table.' I think you might be arguing something else entirely. I'm complaining about silly football statistics and analysis.Kerryblueboy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 3:43 pm Maybe it’s because we keep trying to play the same way even though it isn’t working because we have a stubborn coach who won’t change it
I don’t see an issue with it? It’s a form table from a set date, same as form table from the start of the year or any other arbitrary period of time.
Then can we add the weather to the ever growing list of frustrations, it's bloody freezing and it's April?
I understand, and I'm not having a crack at you, but as you know form tables are entirely dependent upon who played who, and when the curated snapshot is taken.NomadskiEFC wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 8:29 pm I don’t see an issue with it? I get what you’re saying and I agree with many of your points, but I think applying the argument would make any form table from any set date redundant, even the current league table could be said to be without value as teams haven’t played the exact same fixtures as each other.Cods wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 8:55 pm I understand, and I'm not having a crack at you, but as you know form tables are entirely dependent upon who played who, and when the curated snapshot is taken.
They're used as a means to push a talking point rather than being actually something of value, or interest.
As I said a week or two ago, Everton played only top half teams, plus Palace, in that run, and the table is conveniently started the game after our last win. These tables are disengenuous. What does the form table look like if it picks up the four games immediately prior? That would be more relevant, as the league table in its entirety is.
It should be no surprise to anyone that teams at the bottom of the table have considerable periods without winning a game, that's why they're where they are.
Had the fixtures been in a slightly different order, or the snapshot taken over a slightly different timeperiod, then it wouldn't even be mentioned. And rightly so.
