No, but potentially a painful honest moment for him.
If he has genuinely turned round and said something like "I can't get anymore out of this group, and if you want more then you'll need to find someone else' then it might be the most honest thing he's said this season.
I definitely think that's what's happened, they've said recent results / the whole season hasn't been good enough and he's trotted out his stock response to them and they've been highly unimpressed.
Basically I can't do better with this squad and you're lucky to have me, and they've dismissed him as a result.

Telling your bosses you can’t do any more when you’re doing terribly (if that’s what happened) is basically sacking yourself
The kind of asshattery you could get away with, under Moshiri. He'd kiss your ass, or pay you off in full and apologize for not giving him a better team. Actual businessman comes in, slits your fucking throat.

I think his arrogance and not my fault defence has been the trigger. It needed pulling and now was better than in the bottom 3

Can't throw the towel in at a prem club and say, my jobs done, Pay me up.
Thought he'd said he couldn't improve our position. If that's what he said that's just what everyone on here said too.

Proper cheered me up seeing that club statement.

I appreciate this is a difficult time for you right now. It will be ok, Dychey will find a new job, a new found happiness. A new lease or life if you will.
He's said what we were all saying. That he couldn't do anything with this team. I'm not sure why that means he's not entitled to his payout. Realising you're not up to it means you shouldn't get paid?
If he comes out and says he's harshly treated he's wrong. If he comes out and says he's not up to it he's wrong?? People don't resign from millions of pounds. Wish a lot of our players had walked away from their contracts too but it literally never happens

Me?? I genuinely couldn't care less. We were circling the drain when he came and we are circling the drain now. I'm just not as excited as most. Don't think he's a cunt or he's our worst manager ever. Don't expect to see any spectacular improvement though not scraping along the bottom would be nice.
I just find it all a bit odd that people think he shouldn't get his payout. They all get their payouts. No one demanded any of our list of awful players over the last decade just walk away from their contracts. The whole thing is oddly venomous and oddly unrealistic. He got 6 months pay and maybe or may not have got some bonuses. That's bloody cheap compared to every manger who went before him under moshiri
So long as it's not Southgate or probably carsley I'm more than happy to roll the dice

He didn’t get his payout. He got a lot less than he thought he was entitled to.
Read the articles.
You can’t sit infront of a new board who want to back you and say “I can’t be arsed lads, I’ll just take the money, cheers”.
The fact he got a lot less than he wanted and didn’t even get to manage the cup game after taking training should tell us all something has gone on that couldn’t be repaired.
Give it up now.

I'm really not suggesting something hasn't gone on. He did get a negotiated payout though.
I don't really see what the problem is here. No one thought he was up to it. They've negotiated a settlement. Would we rather he insist he was up to it and we'd limped on before sacking him and he got the full amount?
Feels like the alternative was more dyche and more expense.

Don’t think anyone wants the manager of their football club to give up which is what seems to have happened.
Can see why people are annoyed at that.

Well he gave up and went. I don't really see much of a problem with that when no one wanted him here anyway
Would you rather he hadn't given up and was still here?
The reality is we didn't really buy into dyche. No one wanted us to sign dyche players so surely it's better he's gone and we can sign players that both suit our future and our current manager.
We got the outcome we wanted so no I don't really get the upset

Chill a little. Enjoy what is a great day for this football club. We've been through Allardyce. We'd been through Dyche. No other managers like that exist in football nowadays. We never have to watch such turgid 1997 football again. Rejoice.

Has benitez retired?
I think I'm just more doubtful about the impending significant upturn in fortunes now. I will rejoice when we start to win some games though
