Would happily sell for that price, the guy has ability there's no doubt, but I just don't think he does enough with it... Can pass great but too often passes it straight to an opponent instead of taking more care, drifts in and out of games... I'm sure I'm a few years he'll be fantastic but I've started to lose patience with him, and can't be arsed waiting for that leap in development to happen.
The very top of our passes completed %.
Passes blocked per 90 - James garner 1.01, Onana 0.40.

Yeah it's not so much what he does for me, it's what he doesn't do.
How many of those passes really affect the game, very few, and when he does have the opportunity to slot someone through he misplaces it.
Has these little 5 minutes a game spells where he suddenly looks immense, but then disappears again.
I get he's young and inexperienced, just think of we could get £50m then we can buy two players who do at least the same amount for that cash.

We'd be utterly insane to sell him for £50m. Thankfully, I think the club would be asking for a fair bit more, when the time comes.
I think he's been mostly excellent all season, one of our best and most consistent players, and Dyche has been full of praise for him multiple times.

This just hurts your argument. And suggests you don't understand football, which i know isnt true. One of his shots struck the post, and was the result of him making a great run into the box. Hardly a pot shot.

Yeah I'm only messing tbh, he's been really valuable for us this year. Useful player.

Garner is fine and a perfect midfielder for how dyche sets up.
But he isn’t the player a lot of our fans think he is.
Just one of those players I don’t think there needs to be much discussion about.
He’s there, he does his job, 6/7 out of ten every week.
Getting exactly what we should for a player signed from the championship.
Wouldn’t mind brownhill as another body in that area as we are light then in the summer look towards getting more of a ball player in there.

I like him but at the same time I'd say your assessment is absolutely bang on.
Some podcasts absolutely jizz their pants over him which I don't get at all, even if I think he's someone I like and want in the team every week.
He's neither amazing or shit, just consistently acceptable. Which doesn't sound much like praise, but in a Everton midfield in recent times it's the biggest compliment you can give a player.

I hope so. As of the other week he has only made 16 appearances for Leicester and 10 have been as a substitute

Think he likely will end up with us either this window or in the summer. Dyche rates him and he fits our criteria - cheap/free

Impressive that given he’s at Leeds

"... please, don’t be drawn in by the inevitable daily churn of social media rumour and conjecture - as enticing as I know such chat can be. This is likely to be a low-key transfer window for Everton"
So do we close the thread now?
