I'd be surprised if Luton mounted a strong charge now. They've been absolutely fucked by injuries in the last couple of months and I'm not sure it gets much better for them.

I would be shocked if we finish above Forest.

If we get more than a 4 point deduction then we're really in the mire, so beating Burnley at the weekend is an absolute must.

I do agree you have to take the presented info with context for sure, but where do you draw the lines of validity on a form table?
I completely agree.

A form table from a set date is still largely a redundant idea. A form table 'last 5 games' that is assessed as valid in TV land (otherwise what else would they have to talk about to fill the time) is only slightly more interesting given its taken arbitrarily rather than selected specifically (but winning against City away is still more of an achievement than beating Sheffield United at home, yet treated the same)

Diminishing returns and all that...

I am just against curated tables like the 'since our last win' and similar scenarios being used to paint a picture that is fundamentally skewed, by design, and deliberately so for impact. And more importantly people (not you) buying into the idea that it's significant without understanding what it's actually saying.

It's not very clever the way it's been done. Should have done this years and made it less obvious. To do a form table not from a date but from when everton last won is a bit obvious as what you're trying to get and what you're gonna get.

I read it as a snapshot of how long we’ve been awful and how awful we’ve actually been during it.

Genuinely looking at our form objectively, we have been unlucky, and should have fostered a few more points from our last 12 games.

That doesn't mean that we still aren't a little bit shit, nor that we still might not be relegated.

It's just a fact that we have, from a statistical and viewing standpoint, have been unfortunate not to have at least a win or two in those 12 games.

Form tables mean nothing going into the business end of the season. We could perform terribly in the next few games and win all of them. Conversely, we could keep performing as we are, being as toothless and as ugly as a blobfish when it comes to finishing.

Just hope we can get over the line so that we can start the pain and misery all over again, but most importantly secure our final season at Goodison in the top flight.

Ominous, though - 6 points deduction on the cards...?

If we lose today and it’s followed up by a points deduction on Monday then that’s the death blow I think.

We’d still have games to turn it around but that double gut punch would be too much for them to handle I think.

Win and things are looking up even with a (hopefully small) deduction

So annoying that Luton late goal.

Was kinda banking a little on them at least drawing today.

All about the points deduction on Monday now.

5 teams below us, 4 points better off with a game in hand and better goal difference. If there wasn't a points deduction incoming then I think we'd be locking this thread now.
