Even just from a selfish PR pov, I don't think it puts the club in the best light.

What would TFG thank him for though?
They’ve only owned the club for a few weeks. What’s gone before has nothing to do with them.
They’re the ones that put the statements out.

But then, new owners, new era. Perhaps it's a statement that Everton Football Club is no longer a soft touch. Friedkin comes across as quite a ruthless businessman, who doesn't fuck about. I don't imagine he's the type to.suffer fools, and I don't imagine that he's particularly tolerant of truculent staff.

Worth remembering that Dyche soured the relationship with his attitude, not the other way around. They were backing him.

It costs nothing and it's the polite thing to do. However in the US it's not always observed.

Yeah, seems to me like he knew he was done at the end or the season regardless, and that he'd collect the same money if he left now or the end of the season and figured why bother.
not a good look for him going forward, how you perform in the last 2 weeks at your job says more about you than how you perform in your first 2 weeks.

Without meaning to sound glib, TFG aren't the club, they're just the owners. The statement is from the club and irrespective of what went on in the meeting the announcement really should have been better.
Thats if it was actually dictated from Watts or someone from TFG. It could well have been 'hey PR guy, write something'. Get that they're trying to be the tough guys too.

Gana is a safe passer. Has his moments but generally reliable. Mangala is similar but gets his passing off at a quicker rate which helps us move up the pitch.
Definitely room for an inventive passer in there.

Armstrong’s assist was a lovely example of a nicely weighted forward pass. More of this please.

Think the club should have said some form of thanks right?

I think they could have worded it a lot better while still sending the message that they won’t be messed about. From a PR point of view it wasn’t a good look and probably encouraged some of the daft comments from the likes of Townsend and others.

It's not them thanking him, it's the club as an entity thanking him, which regardless of this season would have been the right thing to do.
None of its been handled well even if it's the right decision.
