Funny that. Wasn’t too long ago I was being called a dyche apologist.
I have my opinion purely based on the reporting of what supposedly happened and the way dyche seemed to manage us in the last couple of weeks.
Has nothing to do with liking or not liking the bloke.
The media will always come out in support of dyche. A lot of the comments have been wildly inaccurate but he’s a proper football man, he’s a British manager, so he’s always going to get the support of the media.
I think you’re exaggerating how much this type of stuff really matters tbh. They owed dyche nothing.
Well I'm in the same boat, but I feel like the way you've posted about him in this thread gives off that vibe.
You might be right, maybe it matters more to me and it's colouring my perspective. I just think that there's a way we should manage the way we handle this kind of things in a different way. There's a number of reasons, such as how it's perceived in the press, but also potentially what it says to other managers and players we look to hire too.

Who gives a fuck if some corporate entity words their sacking message sensitively or not? It's all fakery and posturing anyway. The £5m a year for playing football from the 1980s is thanks enough.
Even if I absolutely adored the outgoing manager, I wouldn't care less what the final statement said.
You wouldn't, and that's fine. You're as an individual are also irrelevant.
But there is a potential impact attached to handling this way, not just the message, but the timing too. While we all feel relief, and in some parts probably joy at the fact he's gone, nobody outside of the club is viewing it that way.
It's super easy to categorise what we did in a very negative way (which is what parts of the press have already done), both due to the nature of the message and especially the timing. It could be argued that it looks like we had no time or respect for him or what he did, and that we've acted impulsively with no real plan in place, and that we're now scrambling as a result, and I don't think that's a stretch.

Happy for you to go back through this thread to see a lot of posts from myself defending him and praising him, especially last season.
But when you have the season we’ve had up to now, opinions change.
I’m not small minded enough to stick to my guns despite all the evidence available.
As I say, I don’t think it matters and I don’t think the owners owed anything to dyche.
Just my view on it.

Rams done a complete 360 on Dyche multiple times

Sorry I meant more recently, I was thinking of this thread as his leaving thread, which it isn't.
Mine did two, I think we've probably been on a similar trajectory, although I think I probably was more forgiving of Dyche than most.
That's fair.

I think old school fleet street journos, whose influence is dissipating, and the old boys network in the punditocracy who identify with Dyche probably will view the messaging as overly harsh, but again, who really cares? They will always come out and defend managers like Dyche, regardless of the circumstances.
Was the decision impulsive and panicky? I don't think that's reasonable. Lots of fans wanted him gone as soon as TFG came in. They didn't do that. The messaging in the press was that they would look to keep him until the season was over, and back him in the January market. Since then we've read a number of different accounts from respected local journalists which suggest that Dyche effectively left them with no choice but to replace him. Maybe you don't believe them? I do. The details provided were unusual and specific, and referenced by multiple credible sources.
So I think the lack of sentimentality in the TFG's statement when he left probably reflects the way he behaved in that last week, and arguably the way he's regarded by the people at the club. I notice there weren't any players paying credit to him on their social media accounts or mourning his departure. That usually illustrates something about how the individual is regarded, in my experience.

Don't think so. You can't do a 360 with a 180.

You're right about old school journos, but it's not limited to them, socials are full of it from non fans and lots of managers and ex-pros are sharing similar sentiments. Does it matter? Hard to tell, probably not right now, and the new owners will probably get some grace, but as the first decision they've had to make, it's been a hit and a miss for me.
The decision itself was already made so it wasn't impulsive in that sense, he wasn't staying beyond the season, they'd been in talks with other managers etc. The timing of it seems impulsive for sure. When Baines and Coleman are saying they didn't know until that day, and he was allowed to do the press conference the day before, well none of that seems like a controlled or pre-planned event surely?
Can't argue that things had obviously turned, and players who are getting blamed by him won't be thankful for it.
Ultimately I guess we either care how it looks, and what people think or we don't. I think we should, and I think others do to, as demonstrated by multiple 'we won't be seen as a soft touch' posts, but I guess some people just don't think this is a bad look for the club, and I don't understand that.

Don't think it really matters to any great degree but it's probably still a little bit of unnecessary bad press
First day back at work since we sacked him for me and the 3 people I spoke to all couldn't believe we got rid of him. Really not sure why. Most teams right down the bottom sack their managers. No clue why we should be the 1s to just accept it. Think it's kind of accepted by other fans that we are just hopeless now while maybe the other relegation candidates get a pass because they've had successful seasons prior all be it in the championship
Be fantastic when we get away from this period and get a little bit of respect

English managers rarely get any criticism. We're an irrelevant club who are only on the tele against 'big' clubs that either beat us or we scrape a draw or something. We're outside the relegation zone. No surprise other fans would think we're crazy for getting rid of Dyche.
Just tell them to go back and watch a few 90 minutes in a row and they'll understand.

Statement released on behalf of Sean Dyche:
"It was an honour to manage Everton, a football club with a significant heritage and an enormous following in Liverpool and all over the world, through one of its toughest periods in its history. Despite the challenges we faced, I wanted to ensure that the club’s narrative was focused on the positive direction it will take in the future and that the team could focus on competing in the Premier League in the present.
“I thank my staff, the players and all involved who played their part, as it simply wasn’t possible without their support and expertise. I also thank the fans who came through for us many times when we all needed their support.
“The right time has come to leave the club, with the team in good shape. David is a manager who I have great respect for and I believe he and his staff will help to push the club forward again and build on the stable footing we have implemented in the past two years.
“I wish everyone well going forwards including the new owners, who I hope will take the club to the next level and deliver the success which every Evertonian wants.
“My part as a custodian has been played and I will forever take great pride in that. After going through some extremely difficult situations, I never lost faith in everyone around me and we did everything we could to protect the badge, safeguarding it and the name of Everton Football Club.”

Good PR statement for his future career prospects there.
