Moyes did today what dyche did against arsenal when he first came in.

Think we are rewriting history now. Everyone thought we were doomed when he arrived. Suddenly we should have done better than narrowly avoiding relegation?

It's more than a little odd that anyone is blaming him for our problems his first 2 seasons. He was awful this season though

He was awful from day one. The football was occasionally successful but consistently grim. Football is a results driven game but ultimately so much more than just the result.

Think it's unrealistic to expect so much better than narrowly avoiding relegation for the first 18 months Dyche was in charge. We were deep in the mire in that first season after Lampard, then last season we had 8 points deducted (and, to be fair, we would have been 12th otherwise). Despite the grim football, he steadied the ship during a massively turbulent time for the club.

My issue with the 'many a manager' thing is that many managers haven't done well with this squad! Or any of the incarnations before it - and they were able to invest a lot more than Dyche. The squad is extremely limited – both in terms of numbers and ability - one good win today doesn't change that. They're all capable of a performance but seem unable to maintain that consistently.

I think it would've been unfair to bin off Dyche in the summer after the previous season and a half but it's clear this season was a bridge too far for him. Without the points deductions, this was his chance to expand his style. But the persistence with his negative approach and refusal to give 'his' players minutes (namely, JOB and Lindstrom - assuming he had some say in their recruitment), despite the appalling results, mean that he has tainted a lot of the good will many of us held towards him.

The change was necessary and it now feels like we have Everton back. There's renewed hope and optimism among fans, a manager we largely trust to galvanise the squad and recruit shrewdly, and players who have been revitalised in the space of a week - all parties freed from the drudgery.

I'm so happy to have Moyes back, been calling for him for years. But - provided the crap first half of the season doesn't relegate us - I think I'll remember Dyche favourably for keeping us going when everything else around him was burning.

Last season must have been unbelievably stressful as it wasn’t just on pitch stuff, what he did was remarkable and he deserves all our respect for it

Unfortunately he then had a bad result against Bournemouth when he tried to move it forward this season, and absolutely shit the bed as a consequence

He couldn’t shift himself out of where he got to mentally, and that was that

Today was a bit like the away 5-2 win at Brighton except this looked deliberate rather than accidental

Today just shows how embarrassing it was to play the way we did under him this season.

There was nothing about us. He had us playing to our absolute worst level and had everyone thinking that was as good as it got.

You could see how much the players thrived today with actual instructions on how to use the ball and a manager who gave them freedom and confidence to attack.

That was better than anything we ever saw under dyche today. He’s made moyes look like a visionary when we all know he’s nothing of the sort. Just a good, solid manager who knows how to set up teams to compete in the premier league.

He’ll get one more job and that will be it for him.

As much as I'm relieved he's gone, I think his coaching team need the finger pointing too because they were supposed to be getting the best out of that squad, not just Dyche. I appreciated him keeping us up but towards the end his bloody mindedness and arrogance soiled his achievements. I hope he reflects on it and adapts. Saying that. If you get millions for failure, do you need to?

It was a great performance but it was one game lads. Spurs are also really bad atm and we still nearly fucked it. Putting out consistently better performances with the same players for the rest of the season will prove Dyche was the problem.

True, but how would Sean have set us up against spurs, and do you think we'd have gotten a result?

He'd have set up for both the Villa and Spurs games aiming for 0-0, and I don't think we'd have got anything out of them. At best 1 draw.

Think everyone's just relieved that we've won a game and found a way of attacking in the last two games, after a whole calendar year of being awful.
