am talking about a rule brought in like 10-15 years ago it was before ffp was even a thing it might actually have been in the 2000s
uefa wasn't happy about 7 year contracts i think i remember them being described as slavery at the time
and up until a couple of years ago when chelsea started giving out 8 year contracts to mudryk etc 5 years was the max length

no back in the day chelsea was giving 7 year contracts and uefa and the fa brought in a rule of 5 years as the max length i think this was around 2010ish
I don't think that was ever the case? It was changed recently as Chelsea were handing out 8 year contracts and paying them over 8 years to get round PSR, now it's changed, you can still give players a long contract but the fee has to be paid for over 5 year maximum.
These long contracts are to try and protect clubs assets, more and more players are running their contracts down and leaving for nothing at the end of them.

i am 100% certain on this
it will be difficult for me to find the info because all the searches bring up the recent change i dont know the year it was to narrow the search down
it was defo to do with chelsea aswell it was one of the periods when chelsea was stockpiling young players on long contracts it might have been as far back as when aidrein mutu played for them
it was partly that fees could only be paid over a max of 5 years but also to protect players from being locked into long contracts they couldnt get of of and to limit stockpiling players on 7-8 year contracts

So, assuming we can only have one from Chelsea, who would be the preference? Chilwell, Dewsbury-Hall or Chukwuemeka (or is he not in plans if we're going for Nuamah)?

are you getting Chukwuemeka mixed up with chukwueze
Chukwuemeka is a midfielder. left wing
we have been linked with chukwueze who is a right winger

He spoke about the Lyon lad in the presser but said it isnβt done yet but Moyes is so cagey it must be close if he is mentioning him

Never liked Dewsbury Hall, simply because his name reminds me of a country hotel.

i meant because nuamah is a right winger and chwuezwe is a right winger but chukwuemeka isnt a right winger so nuamah wouldnt be a problem with chukwuemeka

In 2005 Messi got an 8 year contract at Barca and Fabregas got one at Arsenal
In 2009 both Raul and Casillas signed lifetime ones
Pardew (a manager, granted) signed an 8 year extension in 2012
Iniesta was offered a lifetime one in 2017
That's a pretty regular cadence of over 5-year contracts to suggest you may be Mandela-effecting here?
National rules dictate most contract details (due to employment laws), not UEFA
