I hope that puts it to bed, he'd be worth it if we were getting him on the cheap or on a free with a big sign on, but we shouldn't be trying to pry him away.

Hopefully this is correct. Just don't want him.

I’d rather stick with Iroegbunam than bring in Soucek

AjaxAndy wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:25 am Have his legs gone? He's only 30.

Doesn't score that many headers, gets lots with his feet.

Scored more than 6 goals in each of the last 2 seasons so why would he suddenly only score that playing for us?

No one's saying he's the final piece in the puzzle, just a handy option for probably relatively low cost that keeps Tim out of the starting line up.

Everyone knows we need an athletic 23 year old Gaz Baz regen instead, but we don't have £40m to buy one this window. We need bodies though, especially in CM so sometimes you've got to eat your cheese sandwich because you haven't got the cash for a dominos pizza.
Yeah man okay.

It does make for grim reading and I also don’t want Soucek but the team they play for and the role they’re asked to do will greatly affect stats like this. It only covers last season and West Ham had/have players who were good on the ball so there’s less responsibility to do that and the way the team presses and recovers the ball will be completely different. Spending over 15m would be absolutely criminal though and even still he’d have to prove to be worth the 15.

That ruddy Soucek rumour has all been a bit of a red herring, so stop carping on about him; it's gonna turn out hunky dory for us once he gets knocked off his perch

Newcastle bought that Woltemade from Stuttgart. At €85M I guess we were never going to be in the conversation. Will be good to see how he does in the prem, looks an interesting player to watch, gutted though that anything good he does will be for that lot.
