It won’t get any better than this for Potter in terms of projects.

It’s how challenging he wants to make it for himself. If West Ham is on medium difficulty, then Everton are on “extreme difficulty - are you sure?”

I can't really think of any reason why anyone would choose us over West Ham, but you never know. Maybe we will just give him more money.

At this point not entirely convinced we are even in the convo as SD is still the manager as we speak.

I like Potter a lot and I think he would be a great project manager. I also think a good coach should be able to adapt and work at different schemas, so I'm not as concerned about bringing in a project manager too soon - I can't speak for anyone else but I personally am sick of "we can't hire X Y Z / we can't sign X Y Z, we need to be more safety first and conservative". Yes there's an element of truth in that for all clubs, but we've been saying it for ten years and we're just slipping away into nothingness. No more allardyces. No more Dyches. No more Rafa's.

We need a hand break turn. Hire a good coach and give him the set up to succeed, even if that means he compromises his own vision for 6 months with work in the background, that's fine.

Yeah can’t be another firefighter type coach needs to be someone right this time potter I would like but he won’t choose us over West Ham plenty of good options out there but need to make a decision now and give the new coach a chance to get a few players in

Don't want a firefighter and I don't want some random punt on someone who could easily be a train wreck as a success.

Just someone competent with a long term sustainable way of playing that's at least relatively enjoyable to watch.

Doesn't have to be one thing or another, happy to have someone with a possession based style or someone who likes to have a mix of direct attacks and keeping the ball when the time is right.

Don't give me a style over substance guy and don't give me turgid football, that's all I ask.

I agree, but I also think this is a huge moment for TFG in determining the direction of travel they see us going. I do have fears that they dont have a clue what they are doing, and think there is every chance we could get anyone of all the above options (Firefighter/Random Punt/ Train wreck etc), and then within 6 months the complete opposite.
The slightly more concerning bit of all of this is in the communications that TFG are reviewing this, as surely that should be Thelwells job, thats what hes paid to do. I get there is uncertainty around his own position, so I get they may want to be involved, but until we get to a point where there is a strategy, and someone with football knowledge driving the recruitment and managerial appointments we wont get out of this cycle of nothingness

I think Everton's a much more romantic proposition than West Ham generally. Whether that appeals at all depends on the individual. I also think the bar is much lower here at the moment, so a manager doesn't have to do anything incredible to buy himself time and patience. New stadium also obviously, and the chance to build your own squad with financial backing.

West Ham defo better set up for progress at the moment, so you couldn't blame anyone for picking them.

A gap between us and the bottom three and some goals is all I require for the next 12-18 months.

Sky reporting that we've been in talks with Potter for a while. Maybe we were sounding him out with a view to him replacing Dyche in the summer, such forward thinking is at least encouraging.
Perhaps we will just bring our plans forward if Potter can be convinced.

Should have happened the day TFG got in the door imo. Can't wait on your top target, especially considering West Ham were only going one way and are a more attractive job these days by a distance.

Of course the most likely scenario is he fancies neither and will just continue to wait for Spurs.

Dyche is on 30.95% of his 85 at Everton


I like Potter, but weren't goals one of his biggest issues at Brighton?
