If you pay all his wages and no fee that’s £15m for one year. Far too much.
You could see a situation where Grealish decides to take a pay cut to leave on loan. Going from £15m to £10m a year will not bankrupt him, and will give him the best chance of getting into the World Cup squad.
Not sure City will be arsed about a fee as long as the club covers his wages.

Still not convinced on it just because it seems like a short term boost. Feels a bit like a James Rodriguez fever dream signing

They're not getting his wages covered, everyone knows he's not in Pep's plans, they'll take £100-£150k a week covered rather have him burning £300k a week playing keepy uppies with the U21's and dropping in value every week. It's their fault for giving him that contract in the first place, not the loaning club's.

Love that you called him Pepe, hope it wasn't a typo.

I think we need a fever dream / short-term boost to start this new era off on the right foot.

You mean, the happiest we've been in recent years?

James Rodriguez was amazing, and it's one of the biggest shames of the PL era that we didn't get to see him play live.
If we weren't financially fucked we could have kicked on from that season too, instead of selling our best players to balance the books.
You have to hope we're being ran properly this time, and if we can afford the loan he takes us up several levels and makes us more appealing.

Want him but I think someone is gonna end up paying way too much for him. They got a 8m fee and wages from West ham for half a season of Phillips
Can see this costing someone the best part of 20m and it's just not worth that.

I don’t know about the potential for overpay with this one.
If he’s settled where he lives and that’s the primary factor, there are no other options to play off of us.
He’s not going to Liverpool and he’s not going to United. No one else in the North West has the financial clout.

It’s not just the wages though - we’d also need to take on a full time team vet - because those calves are SICK!

If Elton Welsby says it's on, then it's on.
Would quite like to know what the other one is. Officer dibble?
