It's a short term solution to a problem in the team. We'll probably do the same with Beto to someone else. Not loving it but can see the logic and at least it's a loan first.

It's not the world's greatest options, but what are the alternatives?
Stay as we are with Barry starting the majority and carrying way more on his shoulders than he should be, with Beto stinking the place out when he's on the pitch and actually making our ability to play football as a team worse? It's not going great is it?
Sign another up and coming development prospect and have him and Barry compete for starts? Not really going to be great for us or the players.
Splash out on an established quality striker? That's not happening for a myriad of reasons.
Get this lad on loan with no obligation to buy and see how he does over the next few months? On the basis that his all round game cannot be worse that Beto's and you'd think there are some potential goals from him, then we probably have a minor improvement at least. If it doesn't work out then we don't sign him.
So I suppose the only real worry is if he performs well enough that we sign him but then regresses next season. Which is possible of course.
I don't love this one, but I'm not too upset about it either as I can understand some benefit to it.
Would rather any minutes he gets to to Barry.
If he completely replaces Beto as the off the bench option then I'm more fine with it.

Is it a solution though? If he's crap what does he solve?
Hopefully just gives us a chance to turn money on Beto.

Can’t just flog Barry for 90 minutes every game.
If he’s better than beto, which he is, then it solves that problem for a short while.
Why not improve the squad on a quick, cheap, deal like this if we can?

If he comes in and shows he's solidly got more about him than the current strikers then Moyes is going to play him ahead of Barry as Moyes cares more about results than anything else.
Better for our league finish potentially in that scenario, but could cause issues with Barry. In terms of player development, I don't think it's the complete no risk slam dunk being suggested as if we get to the end of the season with Barry still on a small handful of goals he's likely not going to be 1st choice going into next season.

Ah that's where we differ I think. He doesn't look better than Beto to me at all.
If he replaces Beto completely and allows us to spend betos money on someone else great.
If he just adds more shite on shite I've no interest.

Must be better options if we only want a loan for 4 months.

Beto is giving us shite all. Cash in and gamble on a risk free loan for 6 months. Need to change something up front, its killing us.

I think the point someone made about him taking minutes from Barry is valid if he comes on looks solid and scores he will be starting as Moyes prefers experienced players
