Liked that, about 8 minutes in questions the players, not in a bad way but asking the question of them that a lot of fans have as well, we've had a lot of managers over the last few years, maybe it's time the players started putting the hard work in too.

Watching Moyes' first interview did get me a bit misty eyed I'll not lie.
I was never one who held much ill will towards him when he left though so appreciate not everyone will share the same feelings.
Might be the right thing for the club, only time will tell... It's got me excited for Wednesday though and there's definitely part of me that believes he could get us back to being half decent again with a few shrewd transfers over the next couple of years.

Dyche said the same as well previously and it seemed to work at the time. How many managers do they need to have before they stand up and take some responsibility themselves instead of just waiting for the next manager to come along and hopefully fix it for them?
You'd hope Moyes being a little less abrasive and players wanting to impress him will get them to stand up and be counted.

I just feel a bit cold towards moyes.
Was very happy he rebuilt his reputation at West Ham, but in terms of his time here I was happy to see him go as a thought it went very stale for a good while.
The defeats against the reds at Wembley and Wigan were really bad to take and we always seemed to fade away and have nothing to play for at the business end of the season. Once the pressure was off, we suddenly decided to play.
This is a marriage of convenience. He probably can’t get a bigger job than us, and we’re in desperate need for a new manager and he was available.
At the moment I have more fears than hopes at how this could turn out but he seems really happy to be here so hopefully he’s motivated to be a success.

Yeah when the club and anyone else bangs out that 4-4 at Old Trafford, all I think about it is bottling it at Wembley against them lot the week before.
Probably sums up Moyes' first spell here.

I'd kill for a couple of seasons of "nothing to play for", as unambitious as that sound.

Yeah we moaned about nothing to play for because we were a constant distant 7th. Nothing to play for sounds amazing

Moyes never managed to take us that final step, but he still brought us many fantastic moments. How far we've fallen since really sums up how good a job he did for us, even if he wasn't capable of the ambition required to get us some silverware.
I'd absolutely snap your hands off for a few years of anything even resembling that again.

He had all the pieces in 2008-9 and was swiftly dealt a whole bunch of injuries.
On our budget, that squad was legitimately impressive.
They’re not all brilliant but that’s a ton of quality, with some actual depth in a few positions, all basically acquired for less than £10m. If the PL TV money had come sooner, he might’ve been able to keep a squad like this together instead of having to replace all the players who aged out or moved on.
I agree that the slog after that season, of trying to put something comparable together and always falling short (even gifted opportunities in the cup like a poor Liverpool side and Wigan), was rough mentally but it was still essentially better than anything we’ve had since outside of Martinez’s first season.

The whole Baines and Fellaini thing. You have to remember that at that point, he was no longer Everton's manager, he was just doing his job. He knew the financial position at Everton and put in a cheeky bid for a couple of players that he knew would improve his new club. Maybe he was a little naughty going public with it and accusing is of holding them back, but ultimately, he was just doing the job he was being paid to do. I don't hold any grudges over that.
I also don't hold any grudges over him going to Utd in the first place. At the time, that was the biggest job in English football. The opportunity to rebuild a dynasty that had been built by Sir Alex. Having a transfer budget that he couldn't ever have dreamed of whilst at Everton. Going to a club that could afford to bring in almost any player that they wanted after 11 years of operating on a shoestring at Everton. Who would turn that down. Also, it was not like he just fucked off, he did announce it before he went, giving the club ample opportunity to scout out a replacement. The fact that Bill was mesmerised by Martinez was not down to Moyes. For a little while, we were all taken in by him too. We were loving Lukaku's goals and the sexy tiki taka. We didn't give it a second thought that it was built on foundations of sand and RM didn't have a fucking clue how to defend. It was fine whilst he still had the defence that Moyes had built, but it was never going to be sustainable in the long term, and Mark my words, one more season and RM would have took us into the Championship.
However you feel about him doesn't really matter right now anyway. He is the man that the club have chosen to keep us in the PL and lead us into our beautiful new home. Let's get behind the man, make Goodison an absolute fucking cauldron for whoever comes and do our part in getting Everton over the line.
