Very early on in this interview he mentions the character of the players we used to have. That’s a big thing we need more of in the club, especially in a relegation fight.
Moyes is meticulous. He wants strong characters in the dressing room. He wants leaders, men who will roll their sleeves up and fight when they need to. Men who will stand up.and be counted when the going gets tough.

I remember seeing an article about Arsene Wenger and how he would scout players for months, even going as far as disguising himself and watching them train. He'd want to know all about their life off the pitch too, where they were going, what they were eating and who they were associating with. It was almost bordering on stalking, but it was about making sure that the player had the right character to fit into his squad. SAF was pretty similar with his youngsters, and would keep strict tabs on them, even getting reports from the landladies of the digs they were staying at. What time they went out, what time they came home, did they bring anybody back with them etc.

Who's the next Seamus Coleman? Character wise?

In reckon there’s still plenty of people like that around, but since they’re not at our club we don’t notice them or don’t like them.

Take somebody like Ryan Yates at Forest who has been in their team from League One through to third in the prem

On a side note, I’m looking forward to us trying something other than back post overload corners.

It worked at the beginning then was sussed out yet we’ve still been sticking at it for like a year even though it clearly wasn’t working - it’s a small thing but shows the issues with Dyche’s rigidity

Do you not remember Arteta's corners to the front post? I think he beat the first man once whilst with us

After coming from the era of Hinchcliffe, it seems like we were shit at corners for so, so long

We need Dunc back asap, Moyes can't be putting the cones out as well as set pieces.

Good times.
The only single good thing that came out of that game was Neville retired at half time.

Sure I'll be fuming with him no time but nice to be able to see that he's buzzing to be back

I don't have much hope in it but maybe he's learnt a few lessons while he was away.

Surely Bainsey could last 60 minutes, still got it.

I Love that he is now on the bench with Moyes.

The usual instance of a manager returning to a club is after a successful time winning trophies

This is different: 13 years without a trophy; coming back to put one or two in the cabinet

How often does a second stint turn out to be more successful than the first?

I am not really looking for top 10 finishes any time soon, stay in the PL this year and a comfortable lower mid table next season, just not having to worry about relegation and scoring some goals will be all I am looking for in the next 18 months so I don't really think his previous stint has much bearing to our current situation.
