I mean, that's the evergreen way of putting it. Succinct, too.

Or where those that were an inch from touching the ball for the easiest of tap ins, but unfortunately were too busy with head down/looking for a foul/feeling beaten after a strong challenge, rather than looking to see where the ball was going...

Had Dom been awake to Dobbin's cross his xG would have gone from 0.06 to around 1.0. And not for the first time has a chance like this gone begging.

I think he'll keep us up this season but it's beyond that where I'm worried. I look at him preferring Godfrey to Patterson and not getting many minutes out of Danjuma combined with the sort of players he bought at Burnley and worry about what the future of the squad looks like. We're desperate for a bit of pace and someone who can dribble the ball individually but he doesn't seem to value that quality in a player much at all.

Whatever three teams that come up next season are going to be stronger than Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton for sure. As good as job as he's done with the points deduction, two other teams have completely fucked themselves up this season to make it easier. If we're going to continue with players like Ashley Young and Jack Harrison then I fear what our team will look like after selling Branthwaite and Onana and wouldn't back us to finish above 3 teams likely to be in the league.

We simply make poor chances from poor play. We win the ball high up and suddenly realise nobody has any idea where the ball should go.

Compare that to how many times united got in to Pickford in 1,2 passes. They had a pattern and repeated it. We lump it in the box, blocked shot from 30 yards, and repeat that until we lose it.

United were more dangerous from our possession today then we were. Waiting to break every time.
There is definitely something in that, the quality of chances.

But the use of statistics in this way is a bit misleading too, as one simple touch by Dom's toe, instead of missing it by an inch, (as he was daydreaming in the 6 yard box when Dobbin crossed it in) would have the effect of increasing our team xG by around 55%, which would have that data point on the 5 game rolling graph considerably higher than it's showing, and more in line with weeks 9 through to 14.

One simple touch.

Had Onana volleyed at goal rather than miscontrolled in the 6 yard box in the first few minutes. There's another 0.3xG, or so.

McNeil twice had shots that we've seen him regularly bury.

Tiny margins, but really good chances.

We had more than enough good chances to have won that game pretty easily. We had 33% better non penalty xG than United (sure the penalties might have otherwise resulted in other chances).

It's still more to do with being confident in mind, clinical, and being awake for chances, than chance quality, for me.

Harsh on Dom, took a whack in the face so wasn't day dreaming.

Nah I really don't agree. Dom drops his head in dramatic style on the first close chance he misses, even when not collected. It's his go to, for whatever reason, head in hands or pursed lips. Similar to McNeil. Pickford is starting to do it for the cameras too, his wince and "oof, that was close" theatrical smile.

Dom instantly realised he should have been more switched on when he reacted milliseconds later, too late, when Dobbin's ball fizzed between his foot and an open goal, so the knock obviously didn't affect him at all as he slid in for it anyway, just too late.

With the ball still in the 6 yard box I don't understand why any player hungry for a goal would take their eyes off it.

I worry that even if we do stay up then next season will be a total disaster. Our quality lessens and lessens every year. We will sell Branthwaite and Onana in the summer if we do stay up, Danjuma and Harrison will be off at the end of their loan spell and the squad won’t have enough quality players left to see us through. Will just be a team of workhorses

The Dyche cons are creeping up and starting to cancel out the Dyche pros

That’s more about a lack of investment than Dyche though?

In the last 5 season we have a -£27m net spend.

Not sure where this narrative than Dyche wants poor players who can only run around comes from? I’m sure he’d like top players whose work ethic isn’t even a consideration.

Even Klopp said to Endo in his first press conference. “We just need your legs”. Work rate and application would be the primary consideration for any manager.

Beto, Chimiti, Danjuma - all the hallmarks of a Thelwell, not Dyche.

We’ve normalised not spending money, we’ve normalised not having quality, we’ve normalised not having options off the the bench, normalised going into a match day with 2 midfielders.

Regardless of who the manager is: we need to start spending money, or at least start finding “gems”.

Until we look anything like a proper football club then Dyche stays and continues to put out fires.

If we go down this season he will take 0% of the responsibility as it will be the points deductions that take us down and that’s all on the ownership.

I see that idiot from toffee Tv already calling for him to be replaced by moyes.

Lol. It won’t make a difference. Whilst we are sell to keep the club afloat, no manager can be successful.

Dyche might not be the best fit for us but how the fuck are you supposed to tell right now? If we go down, if we stay up like @TheRam said so much of it is not even an on the field issue what's the point in changing things right now?

Deserves a medal the size of a dustbin lid for sticking it out

And to be fair, he has pretty much given every first team squad player a chance in the starting line up (apart from Chermiti)

I think he’s doing a great job considering.

Obviously he’s doing the impossible job. It’s just so grim the football though isn’t it?

No win in 11. How many games without a win was Benitez when he got sacked?what happens if we go down and end the season with no win in 21?!

The picture would probably seem a whole lot rosier if we would have turned say those Palace and Fulham draws into wins. However, we didn’t and yesterday was alarming just how much heads dropped and you could sense a total lack of belief that anyone had any confidence that they could score

Dyche is very good at the defensive side and making us hard to beat. Can’t help but think he’s missing a trick by not getting help coaching our attacking side of things

Nowhere near good enough from Dyche since Xmas. Underusing subs, not finding a way to get results at home, not using players like Beto and Danjuma (when he was fit) nearly enough, 11 games and effectively 4 months without a win, mostly terrible football.

More than happy to move on from him, as soon as the club's situation allows.

Hoping that the break allows everyone to regroup and we see the Everton immediately after the points deduction once things start back up.

Feels like we've got to that stage where those fine margins are going against us and now they're starting to become bigger margins... A regroup and rest will hopefully help stop the slide.
