Yeah that had a strong whiff of Capello/Hodgson tournament football.

Kane there saying we're not too sure who should be going(attack) pretty damming verdict on Southgate.

It’s almost as if he was playing exactly how he does at Chelsea

Never got the hype around this lad.
Comes up with a decent goal now and then, but yeah headless chicken is a good call

I think if we're going to have Kane this deep then we need players making runs ahead from wide... which happens with Saka but Foden will always come short and inside.

If we do insist on Kane coming deep I'd even be ok with Watkins and Kane up front, Saka and Gordon wide, midfield 2 of Rice and Bellingham.

Anything but Kane, Bellingham and Foden all in the same place condensing the space and offering nothing.

Or Watkins wide left as we know he can do that, then you have Kane dropping deep and Saka and Watkins running in behind.

It's just so infuriating watching Southgate make a hash of what should be an exciting squad of players.

Can't believe Southgate's solution for Kalvin Phillips is TAA.

Both of them have had excellent seasons, yet can't get a look in in 2 pretty poor performances

Any fucking left back would give more balance, I imagine our attacking play was 90% down the right

For balance purposes they really should get Wharton in as defensive centre mid, Rice box to box and Bellingham as the 10. Saka right, Gordon or Eze left. And Shaw in at left back

I was thinking that the last time we were solid in the centre was when Phillips was fit

I've been an advocate for Southgate - like Dyche's achievements with us, I think it'd be harsh to sack him after what he's done with England.

We've never been the most exciting but it hasn't been a fluke that we've made it to the latter stages of the last 3 tournaments.

But this is absolutely abysmal. He's got the best squad we've had for ages and just doesn't know how to use them. It's like the better the squad gets, the fewer ideas he has.

The funny thing is that he could quite easily have gone Rice- Bellingham-Foden in these group games and had the best midfield in the tournament, but for some reason he thought TAA was what we needed.

Been so poor from Southgate, and it's going to be a shame for his legacy if this level of performance continues as he could have quit after the world cup with a lot of love from the fans for his time as England manager, which not something many can enjoy.

Sorry guys but I love an England inquest. Pages of angst but really cut through by @Bluedylan1 - Manager’s just shit.

That’s the problem in a nutshell.
