Because I think if the money was there we'd go and get a £12m LB, a £15m CM, a £40m striker and say here we are, we'll be sound. 2-3 players revolutionises the side.
But we're linked to so far nobody, or tom cannon who we have a buy back for.
Plus despite us being inside PSR, people (Moyes, ornstein) keep repeating that we have to be careful.
The owners have all the money in the world, the club doesn't, and psr wise is clearly still right on the brink, despite having the summer to correct things and Branthwaite to sell.
From where? Are these players available?
And also, how does anyone know the insides of the club...why would we be spilling all the details?
We do not know anything really do we. Yes we have to be careful in terms of going and spending 100million on shite, like we have done in the past. Doesnt mean we have 50p available so must not go crazy.
Still plenty of time in the window to make good decisions.

I'm saying you have already acknowledged Villa are much better, and you pointed out that we had our highest xg since November in a game he had 2 days to prepare for against a team 5th in the CL table. We missed a late sitter, and 100% should've had a penalty.
I'm not saying your concerns aren't valid. I'm saying there's a wild fluctuation between the logical, balanced things you said above, and ''I think we're cooked and I think Dyche knew it'' less than 24 hours later. It is unreasonable to point that out?
I think despite that - I can still look at the squad under a new manager with a new message, and say - ah I see, we actually are fucked. Tbh with you I think Moyes is thinking th same.

Not to cross pollinate the relegation thread but clearly the table says we have relegation issues and genuinely we're currently as reliant on the other scores going for us as what we can do ourselves. That's what it feels like to me, we don't currently have enough consistent ways to win games.
I wasn't totally on the Dyche is unsalvageable train at least until the end of the season because I do think it largely comes back to the players available. However, I think Moyes > Dyche is an upgrade, even if it's a relatively modest one possibly. He knows how to be in a relegation fight too but I think he likely does have more strings to his bow as a coach and we did have some good football in his time he before when the player recruitment was right. Plus Moyes does tend to have a good eye for a player.
Simply a hugely important window for us though to get right, as we're missing goals in this team clearly. We're missing them from CM we're missing them from the RW and from up top. If we find the right creative players for CM/RW maaaaybe the strikers do better though. Still I would feel better with an upgrade there too. We basically need our new versions of Cahill and Arteta under Moyes...and he's got 15 days to get them in.

Liked the little change to go three at the back.
Didn’t know moyes had that in him.
Might see more of that I think. Also happy he gave obrien those minutes and not Michael Keane.
Definitely expect 3 atb going forward after seeing that, 3 ok CBS (altho my current feelings on Tark...) considering we're passing between the back three rather than into midfield as the midfield are all crap.
No actually capable full backs either, so converted wing backs it is I think.

I don't know how you can't worry about a team which does not achieve the main objective of playing the game of football.

Yeah, when we went to 3 atb was it 352?

Yes it was a 3-5-2 job.
Can't recall Moyes ever playing that in his career? Didn't pay enough attention to his stints at West Ham, Sunderland and United so he may have done.

Same.
Just has a terrible vibe to it.
If we don’t win on Sunday then I’d be convinced we’re going down.
Even Lampard and dyche got a bit of a bounce going immediately.
I’m usually pretty chill about us in relegation battles. I’ve never really been that worried about us going down despite how close we’ve been.
This just has a horrible feeling about it. It’s easy for a manager to come into a team near the bottom and set them up defensively to grind out points. We need something different this time around and it’s difficult to get teams like us to suddenly start scoring goals.

Where I am too.
We are quite stodgy and stubborn but need to find a way to create and score. And we've hired David Moyes to do it. That set piece coach better be on a concord because we need something fast.
Awful vibes for him to be like, yeah these are shite, day one. He looks like he's in his last week not his first.

I don't mind him digging out the players, he's not doing it in a bad way like Dyche did saying they didn't follow his instructions etc but he's right to question why so many managers have struggled to get a tune out of them, other than that he's asking them to give that little bit extra which is fine.
I think part of the trouble is so many are out of contract so there isn't the same motivation or concern that we go down. Although you could also question whether any of them were even trying to impress potential new clubs because I can't see a big queue in summer for some of this lot.

Share the concerns and the lack of goals is a huge issue. It has been apparent for years that there's very little quality in the squad – or certainly consistently enough to make them reliable PL performers.
And the run-in looks tricky, there doesn't seem a likely spell of matches where we can put together a bit of form.
But I don't think any of this is a surprise to Moyes. He's not that sentimental that he plunged head first into the job without any inkling of the task that lay before him. It hasn't just dawned on him after one match and two training sessions. In his first interviews, he kept mentioning about adding quality (I think his exact words were "We're moving into an elite stadium but the players are shite"). And he has made several references to bringing in players.
He's definitely been given assurances that he has money to spend – might not be earth-shattering and January is a terrible time to try and do it, but he'll have an idea who he wants. Just have to hope for 2, 3 or 4 who can bed in quickly and give the team a real lift.

This was the issue with dyche.
Manager out of contract, half the squad out of contract or on loan.
We saw with dyche he just couldn’t be arsed in the end and gave up knowing it wasn’t worth the effort long term.
Players will be the same. I’m out of here so why should I be arsed.

last night wasnt great but its 1 game,
i felt like it was an impriovement over what we have had under dyche 2nd half we actually strung more than 2 passes together and tried to play football but we do need some players to turn this around,
we are desperate for a RW
we wont suddenly be real madrid over night but 2-3 new players who can create and score and we should be able to stay safe
