I'm not sure that's about not trusting him, I think that's more about how Ndiaye and Grealish in particular tend to hang on to the ball rather than release early passes. It happened throughout, not just late on.

I think strikers are coached to do that though. It's more about pressing the space and retaining your shape to make it difficult for the opposition to play out from the back rather than mad Stracq runs to close people down, because as soon as you do that and you don't win the ball you've lost your shape and the opposition have a man over. Not to say you should never do it and I'm sure there are triggers we work on when we want someone to do that, but I just think his work rate in terms of pressing was fine last night.

Either way they need to get coaching both the supply and the anticipation and movement for receiving pronto, when someone (cant remember who made the pass) put the ball through for Barry earlier, he hadn't even moved to the correct side of the defender.

These are things training sessions should be working on, we are still producing a real lack of opportunities outside of moments of individual brilliance.

He’s also clearly low on confidence. When your tail is up and you’re playing well and scoring goals you fly through games on enthusiasm and adrenaline. Once he has a few in the bag he’ll find a spring in his step and you’ll likely see a different lad.

Has a lot to work on, thought he was great last night but little things stood out where his rawness was on display. However the performance itself was night and day from earlier in the season so that gives me belief he's worth sticking with and developing through game time.

I'd only really bring in a striker in Jan if they were nailed on to improve us, like Ivan Toney for instance, otherwise let him crack on.

Another decent performance but fuck me he needs to tell his face that and start enjoying himself. Him and KDH at the final whistle, what a contrast, KDH screaming for the ref to blow, Barry's like "meh" then getting down the tunnel only Dibling looked more fed up than he did although he did have a slight smile on.

Decent performance is about right again. I'm sure he will start most if not all games from here to the window opening, so we'll see how he gets on.

Can't get around the fact though, Moyes will 100% start getting antsy if he can't find the net by then. Next 7 or so games (against some good teams too Newcastle, Bournemouth, Forest x2, Chelsea, Arsenal, Burnley) is going to be a test for him.

Could see a loan for a striker trying to get minutes before the World Cup (like Toney) if he's still struggling in front of goal when we get to January.

The goals will come soon. I wouldn't be suprised if he went on a little run over the next few games. Once one goes in, I think they'll keep coming

He's got lovely little touches and movements shifting the ball around. He's learning and improving, but still has a way to go. He's competing and involving himself more.

Just doesn't seem yet to have the pace and power to lose a man like we saw a bit of in his highlights at Villarreal, which I put down to now being in a league with tougher defenders. I dont doubt that he'll learn as he gets stronger and more experienced.

Our ball carrying players are aware that the end product isn't quite there. You could see Iliman was unhappy with him once or twice yesterday, and Jack was waiting for a better position from him to pass it off.

We saw with DCL, it doesn't matter how good your all round game is as a striker. If you don't score, people's patience will run out
