Such sad news.
He really was the epitome of a player who came here, fell in love with us and never forgot us.

RIP Super Kev. We'll never forget you.

One of the things this website has given me over the years is access to my heroes. And Kev was one of those heroes.

Very early on, Ian Mills would make videos for the website and that was what grew our popularity most at the time. One of them that people wanted to see was his tribute to Kevin Campbell after he left Everton

It gave us both great pride to be able to present a DVD copy of it to him at West Brom away the season after he left.

Later I did a podcast interview with him and it's sad that it wasn't my best work and I felt it just wasn't very good. Entirely my fault for not being a great host.

He was always positive and full of life. I kind of just expected him to get better when I heard he was in hospital. I've cried loads more this morning than anyone should do for a footballer they knew fleetingly.

Went to Whitley Bay and Newcastle on my stag do.

Bumped into him in some random, quiet bar in the late afternoon with an absolute 10 out of 10 talking to him.

I was already done in so just went right up and asked if I could get him a drink. He was sound and spent a few minutes listening to me talk about how brilliant he was.

I then noticed that the girl he was talking to was gone. Felt bad and apologised for cock-blocking.
He laughed and said there'd be loads more, not to worry about it.

Excellent human who fully understood what a club and it's players mean to it's fans.

Gutted about this. 54 is no age. Don't want to think about where we'd be without him and the impact he had.

Beyond words. Met him five years ago after an Arsenal game in the twelve pins. We spoke briefly about the current Everton situation and that Marco Silva needed time after going through a barren spell. He had huge admiration for Walter Smith in bringing him to the club.

His time in the media always spoke positively about us and represented himself in the eyes of us as a fan.

Be nice to set up a game for him. Either for his family or a charity depending on how well they are doing financially. Maybe ex teammates from us and arsenal or even just a friendly between the 2 clubs

Absolutely devastated to hear the awful news.
Such a lovely bloke, always with a broad smile on his face.
Oh that smile.
His love for the club and the fans shone through like a beacon.
It's just so sad and unfair.
RIP big man, and thanks for all the wonderful memories.

What he did for the club and who he was as a person make it very difficult to come to terms with his passing. Gone far too soon and far too young. He should have been telling stories of his Everton heroics for decades more.

The history you made with Everton is set in stone Kev. No one can take that away from you. RIP.
