No one said it was "completely made up", it was acknowledged that something happened but a few people questioned as to how big a story it was and The Mail having an agenda. One paper reported it, The Mail, everyone else just quoted the Mail story then two journos from the Mirror and Echo said that it wasn't as big as made out by the Mail, that was it. It's not a case of "oh, look at me, I was right".

I get that Dyche isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's a weird hatred you have for him and you need to understand that for all you complain at people defending him, it's really boring for everyone else when you turn everything into a Dyche bashing, what you see from Dyche apologists is exactly how you come across to others. We've had a few repeaters on here over the years and it just kills the forum as people get fed up engaging with them as there's no point discussing it, it just goes round in circles.

I absolutely did not say this.

I think people are well wishing their right to take no notice of anything that paper says. Especially when it comes to Matt Hughes.

Thanks for proving my point.

I didn’t say it was completely made up did I. Just said because of who wrote it the article was not worth taking notice of.

Dyche himself said it was greatly exaggerated.

As I said at the time, you are going to view that situation through the prism of your perspective on Dyche overall.

If you're broadly a defender of the manager, you'll think it was much ado about nothing, probably the sort of thing that goes on all the time and nothing to be remotely concerned about.

If you're not a fan of Dyche, you'll think it's indicative of someone quite out of touch with how you manage people in 2024, quite revealing about who he did it to, and quite revealing that it caused some tension.

Personally don't think it's great to be doing that to someone who is clearly feeling a bit sensitive and marginalised in front of the older lads. Also don't think it's amazing to be saying it was his fault for ''not getting the joke'' either. To me it demonstrates a lack of emotional intelligence. I also wouldn't go OTT about it, and say it's terrible. It's just quite revealing.

Im looking forward to how dynamic and different we look today after Dyche having 3 weeks to mould us into a slick unit that can unlock defences with well practiced moves

Or we just keep banging it into the box and hope for the best at every opportunity

It's just a story with no context, maybe Patterson said something cheeky to him and Dyche gave him a 'cheeky boy' kind of clip with no power or malice.

Or maybe Patterson was just eating his meal in peace and Dyche sneaked up behind him and smacked him one for no reason.

Or any of a million other scenarios.

Just think it's a bit of a pointless debate given we don't have any details.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone should be smacking someone round the head, I hate bullshit macho bollocks, but without any context it's impossible to draw any conclusions about what happened and why.

I'm not defending him. I've no clue what happened and it's another embarrassment (all be it minor) in a long list of embarrassments for our club. Patterson is still crap though. He's losing the battle for minutes against Godfrey and young and its not because dyche has a problem with him. Its because he's really crap. As are the other 2. Let's not pretend it's anything other than him not being very good

I disagree about Patterson being shite let’s hope we can find a result today

The plan is the same pass it about at the back a bit then Pickford smashes it up to dcl head and try and get lucky from there

I'm really not trying to defend him constantly but our fullbacks and wingers offer next to nothing. Our strikers miss all the chances they get. This squad is as limited as how we play. If we drag teams down to our level every week it's probably the best we can do.

Maybe dyche is a bit shit, I think he's fine but it's not an outlandish claim given the football we play and the form we are in. I'm not sure he's any shitter than the squad we have. Pretty sure he and his limited team deserve a hell of a lot better than the inept board and owners, the point deduction and constant fear of more to come and a financial situation that's as bad as it gets.

People seem to want to blame dyche for us being shit. Everything was shit before he turned up though

I'd give more credence to the limited squad angle if he didn't constantly choose limited players. He's chose not to play Danjuma and Patterson all season and instead stuck with the likes of Godfrey, Young and Harrison.

When you're a club in our position then you're either going to get limited players or talented but flawed players. I think it's obvious which he prefers. The team is of his own making.

The squad is shit and he gets a lot of leeway with me because of that, but today's been absolutely awful.

We've had 3 weeks off and have turned up looking like we've got no game plan and no ambition to do anything than hope to grind out a draw or a flukey win.

Reminds me of how we played against Palace this, utterly dreadful.
