It's the going rate for a proven PL midfielder in his prime, purely because the other option is him running his contract down and getting a big signing on bonus somewhere else.
First contract after being prem proven is a massive boost, it's why Ndiaye is only on 45k a week and Branthwaite is on 120k a week even though they're both a similar level of quality
On this note, we need to pay Ndiaye and quickly.

Rice has filled in there for Arsenal and James for Chelsea too
More likely a combo of the fact that we don’t have a lot of the ball and he’s on a lot of set pieces
