Everton are expected to wait until later in the transfer window before completing the signing of a new right-back, with a move more likely closer to deadline day than the start of the season.
The Blues are prepared to be patient in their pursuit of Guéla Doué, hoping a delayed approach could help lower the asking price.
If that deal doesn't materialise, the club remain confident they can secure a move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka as an alternative.

The John Stones rumours have gone quiet but I can see them picking up again post World Cup. I would definitely take him and try and offload Keane.

My least favourite links are the ones when we’re linked to annoying washed up dickheads.

Theres a young lad training at Sheff Utd on a free I think, maybe we should have a look at him for the RB position.

So we are abandoning the RB position, selling Dibling and getting Murphy in? Got it.
Whilst I'm confident absolutely none of these things will actually happen, it's still all very dull and grim isn't it.

The mere fact that this is Everton means there is a non zero chance of the above happening.

I think the Murphy link is basically an backup option if we don't end up getting Grealish again, or City demand a transfer fee instead of a loan.
The good thing about Grealish was he cost nothing other than wages, and I doubt we have £40m to spend on a winger, so if we can't do the same again then we'll need to look at a cheap option. Personally Murphy in and McNeil out would be something I'd see as a fairly big upgrade. Especially if we added a Spence, Doue or AWB behind him.
It might not be sexy but a right side of Spence and Murphy instead of JOB and McNeil would be some improvement.

Still not convinced that the point of DJ Ed Spence is because we heard he can play right back and left back but they’ve not realised that even he is not quick enough to play both positions simultaneously.

Grealish cost circa 15m in loan fee and to cover part of his wages, so it was still a sizeable investment, but something you'd probably expect for someone of his quality.
If we dont get Grealish back id rather we give one of our youngsters a go, rather than an average player on the decline. He is better than McNeil, but McNeil should never have been near the starting 11 in the first place, but he was for reasons only Moyes will ever understand.
Given that we have Ndiaye, Dibling, George and then extra cover in Rohl and Armstrong you could argue its not a huge priority, even if we dont get Grealish. Im more worried about how we fill the Gueye void as if we dont get in an adequate replacement there I think it'll be a very long and more painful season than usual
