Had the pleasure of meeting him in our shop in T3 before the pandemic, had a lovely chat about speakers first, then Everton after I dropped all professional pretence and gushed at him.

He was a gentleman in every possible way, such sensitivity on display for such a big fella, gave off this incredible aura of friendliness.

If he’d just been a random footballer I met at work he would have left a big impression on me, the fact he also happened to save this club single handedly from relegation means his legacy is still with us, years after he left, just means he’s an integral part of our history, and I love him even more for that.

Such a sad day for football, we lost a good one today.xx

Was with the club before I found the blues so didn't see him in his day. But the sentiment expressed here and from others lets me know that he was a good un'. Sad as well to see a fellow product of 1970 pass so young.

Never met him but you know just how good a bloke he was from any time he spoke, tweeted, or from stories such as those in this thread. For me he was real Everton, in character as a human, someone made of the good stuff.

The clips of his partnership with Ian Wright are amazing. Seems like they just loved playing football together.

Spilt a fair few tears over this news last night. Gutted.

Can't stop thinking about it.

One of us, saved the club, way too young and a force of love and positivity, to name but a few.

It'd be sad enough anyway but there are so many things that hammer it home even more. Thanks for everything, Super Kev 💔

Just the absolute best wasn’t he.

I’ve been to a lot of ex player nights over the years. They’re all generally sound, but kev was another level.

He had to be dragged out in the end and completely derailed the plans for the night with how much time he had for anyone who wanted to talk to him and have pictures.

He was even up singing his songs at one point.

He absolutely loved it and you could see how much it all meant to him.

Such a massive loss.

Love reading first-hand accounts like this - reinforces how loved this wonderful human being was and always will be. The fact he loved the clubs and fans back in equal measure tells you how very, very special he was.

One of the boys I come up on the supporters coach with runs pubs in Cardiff City centre. Always tells about Super Kev coming in when he was playing for City and how much if a gentleman he was - putting up with my mate fawning over him would have tested anyone’s patience lol
