No one even knows what contract we offered him, could have been absolutely shite.

Always loved DCL, when he goes he goes with nothing but the best wishes from me.

Correct, and it's beyond immature.

What exactly is immature about it? He's not part of our future plans. He's made his choice to leave at the end of the season, which he is completely within his rights to.do. I've got bo issue with him leaving the club. I just don't see any reason to use him, since he is not part of our future. I'd rather we invested the time and energy into players who will be part of the squad next season.

I'd say "let him fucking rot" is pretty immature.

Dcl definitely should be used as a last option from here. He's not part of the clubs future and we aren't in any desperate need for results.

Glad he's going. It's definitely time for a change for both parties. Think he's going to struggle getting the same money or even to play wherever he goes.

Beto - think it’s not long till teams realise that if they sit deep so there’s no space behind for him to run into, this not only nullifies his threat, but stretches the rest of our team further up the pitch, making us easier to play through if they can move the ball quickly and well.

DCL - it’s time. Wish him the best. Can see him bossing it in Italy or Germany. I get annoyed that people give players shit for not re-signing new contracts. You can’t keep people forever. You don’t own them for as long as you want and then discard them on your own terms when you are done. We both enter a contract of an agreed length which gives both parties the chance to review options towards the end. Any player who honours their contract length has done everything they have promised they would for the club imo.

What other way is there to see a contract out other than not signing a new one ?

Alexander-Arnold will get dogs abuse when he goes back to the shite and he's won the lot with them. It's a natural part of football

I don’t know.

Just saying it’s perfectly normal for fans to not like their own players doing it.

Even if he'd signed a new contract most don't want him starting up front, and we'd be unlikely to get anything decent for him if we sold, so not sure there's anything to get on his back about tbh

Wasn’t there a time when the crowd turned on him when in fact he was playing with an injury ?

Yep! Although I think it was when he came off after getting quite a bad knock which put him out for a few weeks... That definitely soured his relationship with the fans I think.

Has a player ever seen out their contract and left with a good relationship with the fans?

It’s a perfectly normal part of the game for fans to be annoyed at this.

It’s also perfectly normal that he wants to leave the club he’s been at for 10 years to look for a massive pay day as he’s on borrowed time.

We don’t have to take sides with everything.

What everyone tends to forget nowadays players are basically sub contractors on a contract for a period of time…..the only difference being the availability of these contractors being “sold” during their contract period due to contractual stipulations/clauses pre signing. These benefit both parties in one way or another and both parties can utilise the clauses as and when!
I personally don’t blame any player who wants to move on to their benefit. Like I don’t blame the selling club for wanting to move a player on for eg: non performance. Fans ever moan about that! It’s strange that people moaning about DCL are probably the same people who were saying we should cash in on our assets like Pickford/Branthwaiite only a season or so again !
