Hopefully he sees sense, He'd stall massively at United or Chelsea. Seems from this we will give him a good salary.
just tailor made for us - if we sign delap that would be the signing pf the summer
i like the fact that he is open to talking to a few clubs inc us and not just top 6 - and seeing what we can offer

It’s been seven years of rubbish and him getting worse.

A 4th choice centre half needs to be reliable to come in, play about 10 games and be solid enough.

Keane isn’t reliable. Our record in the team shows that.

Just let him go. It’s the best for everyone.
How many teams have a reliable 4th choice CB?

Certainly not us if we keep Keane.

Their role in the team is to come in and be solid enough. Kind of like jags towards the end. Keane can’t give you that.

Some teams don’t even have a 4th choice centre half. I see no reason in keeping him.

Not many teams have a 4th choice as BAD as Keane.

It's been 8 years. Move him on.

Newcastle have Lascelles, he's utterly shit and they're 3rd in the league.

I'd imagine if you went through every team's 4th choice CB Keane probably ranks in the top half.

Just a bit of a silly attitude really when we need to replace so many players and he's perfectly fine as a 4th choice CB.

Why take money away from other areas just to replace someone people don't like even though he's in at least top 50% of 4th choice CBs in the league and would cost nothing to keep (sensible wages and short contract only, I'm not advocating more).

Fans think a manager should make decisions based on their previous ill will towards a player, then get angry when they use their sensible brains to make decisions instead.

No one's advocating him starting regularly, but you aren't getting a better 4th choice CB for nothing, and really how good does a 4th choice even need to be, because Keane's good enough for that role.

Would say Ben Mee is probably better to be fair and he’s available on a free.

Keane is rubbish. Why keep him around. Just move on from him. He’s on decent enough money as it is.

Lascelles is better.

Not advocating that I'd sign Lascelles, but it's almost like the last 8 years haven't happened for you.

Any "Keane moment" that's positive is him scoring a worldy or an important goal for us.

Yes, he is capable of having a good game as is any player.

But his arse is the first to go when things go bad at the back, makes far too many mistakes that haven't been ironed out in the 8 years he's been here.

Cost us a shit tonne of games.

This is a massive opportunity to finally move on from him.

Hoping he will see himself as still being able to get games for a lower side.

Praying he moves on.

Get Delap done early, that will settle the nerves and not leave us begging DCL for another chance

Then concentrate on central midfield and a wide forward

Should be a good summer

I think there’s truth in all thats been said. Keane is a top half 4th choice CB. However, for the sake of his career (and probably mental health) he needs to be moved on. As Andy says though, we have many more pressing issues that need our attention, rather than a 4th choice CB.

Just missing of the he's the top own goal scorer in the Premiership myth now for the full set.

Lascelles is absolute garbage so I'm not having that.

'cost us a shit tonne of games', undeniably true, also been perfectly sound in a load too... Like you know, for a 4th choice CB you're not getting a guy who's sound and reliable with a reasonable level of ability on the ball because they wouldn't be a 4th choice if they were those things.

I don't mind us getting a player in who covers one of the full back slots and CB instead, but why spend £20m on someone to do that when it then takes away the money to buy a proper first choice full back?

I could potentially see an argument for just fucking off a 4th choice CB all together and going with 3 plus Myko as cover in an emergency... I'm not spending a penny on a 4th choice CB though when we have one who is fine as that in the squad already.
