Thoughts on Bournemouth and Liverpool matches

Good to see us bounce back against Bournemouth. Doesn't make up for the disgrace of the Luton result but was the sort of performance we should expect in those matches. Garner and Onana were both great. DCL too.

As for the Liverpool match... I can't deal with Ashley Young anymore. Genuinely don't think he's had a good match yet and clearly is thick as fuck. Speaking of which, good to see Michael Keane sticking his arm out in an era where defenders are deliberately putting their arms behind their backs to avoid handball. Konate not being sent off just sums up the different between the top 6/7 and the rest.

Bournemouth was great, Liverpool we played ok but we're fucked the minute Young went off. He's clearly trusted by Dyche and that fucks me off because he's been shite.

Been pleased with Mykolenko lately though, he's done well

Bournemouth were grim
As bad as Luton but at least we put them away

The liverpool game was Liverpool
Had Konate been sent off, we'd have still lost

Certainly a lot more positive now that things were when the site went down.

Was at the Bournemouth game and it was great to see us dominate a team like that, but most importantly put away the chances for a change. Harrison's goal was sublime. I thought DCL was superb in that match, looked fit, strong and healthy and looked like he was enjoying himself. Not just that his all-round play was excellent. Agree on Garner and Onana too, both very good - although I feel like Onana sometimes needs something to happen before he starts looking like the dominant player he should be. Needs to impose himself like that more consistently.

Liverpool game was alright as far as losing a derby match can ever be. We looked like frustrating them and they'd run out of ideas. Who knows what difference Konate going off would have made, but another disgraceful decision to add to the list.

Hoping we've turned a corner now and we end up comfortably away from the relegation fight. But I also remember hoping for similar after we beat Palace 3-0 last season, so not getting my hopes up.

Was pleased with the performance against Bournemouth, albeit they looked really poor. Probably the worst side we've faced yet this season, or maybe more like the least up for it. I expect they'll have a new manager before long.

Liverpool game I felt was pretty frustrating. Young I agree I'm very frustrated with, but the decision making by the referee is hard to overlook. Particularly as Liverpool were generally huffing and puffing and not really creating much. I may be in the minority, but I didn't actually think Young deserved to be sent off, I heard Phil Neville of all people at half time saying he deserved to go and gave the referee a decision to make...but I look at that challenge and it wasn't reckless, it wasn't too high or too fast and out of control, he slid in yes and it was a foul, but that's the sort of yellow you get when you've done that like 3 or 4 times. It was just a foul for me and there have been plenty of games after this one where we've seen many similar fouls or worse without punishment. However, if that is the bar he was using on the day, the non sending off for them was really a joke.

We do seem to have stumbled into a decent formation though with Gueye coming out against Bournemouth due to injury. I think in general this is the most competitive we've looked in a while.

Great to get a win v Bournemouth, and maybe deserved (and would have got, I believe) a point against Liverpool, yet every possible call went their way except Young's second yellow.

Even the Keane handball was a bit unlucky to be given, considering it was welled at him from nearly point blank, the TV angle made it appear square on when it looked mostly behind his body, and that the rule talks about natural body position, anyone who has seen Michael Keane run knows that 'ungainly' and 'unnatural' are understatements, and the rule is maybe unintentionally bias against some players' coordination and running style. But yes, we're never getting that go our way, particularly there, and in our hue of blue anyway.

Bournemouth was superb, we finally took our chances.

Liverpool, I think we did okay, really felt we were going to get something before the sending off. Predicable in the end though, including the bullshit Kounate "second yellow". Standard Derby where we fuck thing for ourselves and or the ref fucks it up for us.

Overall, I'm positive though. I think we will be fine, we have enough quailty in the side to get enough goals. I think we will get a few scalps against the big boys too.

Thought Bournemouth showed we're not one of the worst 3 or 4 teams in this league, in fact comfortably so.

Liverpool was just a joke. Biased ref and a ridiculously stupid player. Every time Young has been booked early on I've thought 'that's going to catch up with him at some point, and lo and behold he then commits a foul that sees him walk and we're suddenly playing 12 men (Inc the ref) with 10 players 😡😡😡.

I thought we played well though and despite the result and the frustration there was plenty of positives to take from the game.

I think Dyche has his formation and preferred players now, we look balanced and semi capable. It'll be a slow grind, but think we'll be fine by the end of the season providing we don't get a points deduction.

*Great to be back btw!

**@si thanks for the hard work... I think it would be useful to have something on the site that says people have to re-register as not everyone checks twitter / x. If they're anything like me they might not have logged in manually for years and think they can't get in because they've spelt their username or password wrong.

* Great to be back! - Thanks Si & team.

Bournemouth was excellent. The first signs of us playing any coherent football in a long long time. They were shite though. Reckon this weekend vs West Ham will be a better litmus test.

Liverpool - meh. Think we all know what that was about. Refs having to grovel and beg for forgiveness for upsetting Klopp before the internationals break. Could see a mile off where this game was headed.

Season so far - just glad that there are several teams as shite as Bournemouth and Luton this year. Even with the ‘inevitable’ points deduction, I think we’ll manage to stay up.

Positives: Branthwaite is undroppable now. Gueye’s injury has presented an opportunity to play Onana in his best position (and he's really good at it!). Myklo has been excellent. Dom is fit again.

Negatives: Ashley Young is a walking liability. The one silver lining is that someone else will play RB this week.
