Rank the Goalkeepers
Rank the Goalkeepers
With Pickford in the news for being England's great goalkeeper, I've picked out the 10 Everton keepers with the most appearances for the club with at least one of those being in the Premier League.
It's not a list to be ranked based on their performances in the Prem, but just for the sake of making it fairly recent.
How would you rank the following on how good they were for us? (appearances)
Neville Southall (751)
Jordan Pickford (326)
Tim Howard (414)
Nigel Martyn (100)
Paul Gerrard (99)
Thomas Myhre (82)
Richard Wright (71)
Joel Robles (65)
Bobby Mimms (37)
Steve Simonsen (37)

Re: Rank the Goalkeepers
Did Mimms play in the Prem with us? However, statistically he’s probably our best ever keeper.
Edit…… he left in 88.

Re: Rank the Goalkeepers
Yeah but thats where the fun lies...who doesnt enjoy a "did Steve Simonsen need to leave Everton for Stoke to become the Keeper he was always destined to become" debate?
Re: Rank the Goalkeepers
Always thought Paul Gerrard was under appreciated, nice to see him getting a bit of love.
Re: Rank the Goalkeepers
Robles against Krasnodar is one of the funniest goalkeeping performances I’ve ever seen.
It looked like we’d taken a random tall guy off the street and thrown in him in goal for the first time ever.

Re: Rank the Goalkeepers
I can still remember Richard Wright being touted as the next big thing. Just before he signed for Arsenal from Ipswich, IIRC. He was supposedly going to be England's number one for years to come. He was absolute fucking shite!
Re: Rank the Goalkeepers
Steve Simonsen was definitely a case of Peter Johnson taking the fucking piss. Brought in from Tranmere, along with Tony fucking Thomas. What a pile of steaming shite they were.
