The new Gerrard/Lampard/Scholes debate? What's your ranking?

I'd go:

1) Foden
2) Palmer
3) Saka

Current:

1) Palmer
2) Saka
3) Foden

but if all fit and playing:

1) Foden
2) Palmer
3) Saka

Palmer
Saka
Foden

As much as I like Foden he's the least productive of the three. Palmer's an unreal player with elite output so always first for me.

Bit of recency bias here. Foden was absolutely exceptional last season and has not really got going this season with injuries etc but he will get that back to that level. You forget how young he still is really.

All three are terrific players though.

Think Saka has been the most consistent and reliable for his club but how that really meshes with/translates to international duty,... Think it is more to do with the tactics England want to employ, as they're still pretty different players playing somewhat different roles.

Not so keen on shoehorning in talent at the expense of team balance and synergy.

Guessing you mean for England as the Foden who plays for England is a completely different player than the City version

I personally think Saka overall, Palmer next at the moment and Foden last.

All great players. Foden is last for me as his performances for England have been gutter tier for the most part and I do think he benefits hugely from being in that real life cheat code of a Man City team. Saka and Palmer are the main men for their teams. City (and definitely England) can more than cope without Foden.

Regardless, these players are all fantastic talents and great to watch when they are on it.

Saka's more an out and out winger, whereas Foden and Palmer are more classic 10s. So I don't see them all in competition with each other really. There's probably room for all 3 in a lot of games.

There was room for Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes in the same team.

Not just because they are both Chelsea but the Lampard/Palmer comparison is interesting because Lampard ended up with more goals than the other two and yet I don't think many had him the best of the three. I suspect Palmer will end up similar in that regard

Foden is great for City but would he get the same numbers as Palmer did last season playing in that Chelsea side?

I'm not so sure.

I watched a great video on FourFourTwo YouTube channel about Palmer and his numbers for all stats is quite extraordinary. Like top 95% or above for almost everything.

Personally I think Palmer is a better player than Foden, not just for England but overall. The fact Pep chose to sell him I think almost means it's hard to reconcile just how good he really is, but he's putting in elite numbers already and if he continues to do so over his career he'll be talked about in the same breath as the likes of KDB imo.

Palmer has to be number 1 for me for the volume of goal involvements. Only 1 of the 3 that's not playing for a top top team too
