His injury record will prevent him from getting a big 4 year deal that he wants. It's too much of a risk for a football club.

And as he gets older, his back/hamstring issues aren't suddenly going to go away - if anything, they will become more of a problem, becoming more achy at a minimum.

No chance he plays every game, and no chance he goes through a season without missing at least a third of the games.

So to me, you have to chop his salary down by a third - and that's before you get onto his last 5 years of games for the club.

Would rather just keep Beto and go into the market and find another striker. Another few years of DCL doesn't make any sense.

The more I think about it the more I think we'd be better off if he went.

Beyond the poor finishing and being injury prone he's also been quite poor quite often for a long while now.

Think I'd prefer beto at this point

By far the best striker we have on the books. The injury’s worry me but I still think it’s worth taking a chance with a new deal. Everton cannot buy/attract what he offers when fully fit and in form.

Full of of ifs and buts but I’d personally give him a new deal. Reduced salary would be nice.

We can't make him a top earner with his injury record, surely. Sign him up for a reduced wage with appearance or performance bonuses definitely, but we also need a new star striker this summer. Someone who is available each week and can finish one on ones.

If DCL agreed to a lower wage it'd make good business sense to offer something like a 3 year deal, so he can prove himself or earn a transfer.

He's not going to sign on reduced terms at 28 years of age as a free agent.

Think listen it is what it is, dont worry too much about the wages. It's probably a good thing it hasn't quite worked out for him elsewhere, we can maybe secure a good quality player on static or thereabouts wages, in a period where we probably need to change 15-18 players over the next few years.

Will help us retain a certain level of player while we invest in the future.

The team as it is now is basically over. There's not much talent there to reinvest and there's not much youth there to bank on. we have so much business to do.

We can be objective and just accept - we're all happy to move on, but he can probably do an important job for us for another year or two with no/minimal outlay, it's sensible to make this happen.

If it doesn't happen I won't be heartbroken but I can see the logic and the upside, and I think it's clear Moyes wants it.

But it's still 100k (i guess) a week on someone that has a terrible injury record. We can't continue to be this stupid as a club and expect to improve.

The zero outlay part is the key one to me... We need a first choice striker so maybe not wasting cash on a backup as well makes this the way we need to go.

Sell Beto and reinvest. Which obviously we can't do with DCL.

Smart business especially if we get DCL on say £30k less a week than he's currently getting.

Whatever we get for Beto will go to paying off Beto to Udinese.

Yes thus freeing up money we can use... We pay for Beto if we keep him so that money then gets used elsewhere.

I may not rate DCL as a player, but there is absolutely no need to abuse him or his family on Social media. Absolute fucking brain dead retard behaviour that.
