So difficult to judge whether he will be a success or failure based off of a few games. Although you can say that he hasn’t had a good start to life here.

I like the fact that he didn’t like being subbed. He was shaking his head, visibly disappointed and so there is some character there that wants to prove something. It might take him a season to adapt to life in the PL, but is that really his fault if we are relying on him to be the main man at a young age? Not everyone is Haaland and hits it off at the first time of asking.

His miss against Sunderland was God awful but he simply leant back rather than concentrated, composed himself and got his head over the ball. He was in the right place but executed terribly. In isolation, it can happen to any striker, especially young strikers.

I also don’t think Moyes has done him or Beto any favours. Swapping almost every match and being subbed demoralises the players and also gives them no form at all. They have one bad half and they are pulled. We have to allow one of them to come into form, and Moyes has to choose. This plan of in one week and out the other is not working.

I have seen some really nice touches from him in these games to think he has a bright future at the top level. But he looks like he is going to need some time to develop and we have probably bought him a season early (at least).

As fans, we have to really support and want these players to succeed. If we want the best young talent to come here, then it has to be the right environment for them. No point in writing off a player that has barely played a with a manager that keeps chopping and changing. That doesn’t do anyone any favours.

But why? And more importantly - how?

What are they doing over there? What is their secret sauce because we need a few bottles of it right now!

Last season they had Diego Gomez - he was a nobody, looked totally out of place in the PL.
This season, seems he’s adapted, because he was given time.
Because we have such a thin squad of 1st team players, any player that comes in is going to be under scrutiny even before he’s kicked a ball.

I feel like there is also some coaching going into the mix as well. Players don’t just improve randomly over time (despite Wellbeck’s recent form), they need to learn and develop and be coached new ideas and new behaviours.

Its incredibly poor team building though isn't it. You cant buy a load of young players who cant contribute now when you need contributions now. These players need loans because we are never going to be comfortable in enough games to carry them while giving them minutes or in Barry's case he'll get minutes that cost us points because all our options are so poor.

On top of these players not being ready are they even the right profiles. Barry doesn't look like a targetman, dibbling isn't a pacy winger, not sure what the left back is or isn't we've seen so little of him

But that's exactly what Brighton do.

But you have to accept that when you start following this model you will have a couple of years of being shit - until the first crop start to come good.
The players we buy next year won't be ready for a year or two either.
The following year we may start seeing the results.
