Moyes does feel like the wrong man. Anzou, Barry, Dibling... Not one of them has he been able to get quality out of so far. When you look at the work he's done with the England U21s, I can't help but think Carsley could have been the right man for the job.
And yes, I know he'd have been a big risk and I know it would have been 'mental'. Not quite as mental as Brentford giving their set piece coach the main gig though.
I'm still mildly in the camp of overall Moyes probably knows what he's doing here. It's really hard to judge for me as we're still only 10 games in, and while they might be quality there with those three and others, it's hard to say we've really seen it yet in the snippets we've seen. Barry has had the most chances but it's hard to solidly argue he's looked ready at this level. I think when AFCON comes around we're going to be seeing more from Dibling and others and with that in mind hopefully we see them slowly given more time. Very hard to guess on Aznou, the only things we've really got to go on are some rather unsure reviews from the u21s games he's participated in.
I don't know, it's hard to completely defend, and it's really going to depend if we're still giving them a lack of opportunities as the season goes on.

Possibly.
But also if he’s basing it on what he sees in training, I think McNeil just provided the text book definition of why that is not a reliable metric.
Yeah im not really disagreeing on mcneil. I think there's just been a huge disconnect between the recruitment team and moyes and if that was the case 1 of the 2 should have been removed in the summer. We cant really expect moyes to play players he didnt want and doesn't rate. He doesn't come out of tbe recruitment clean either though cos I suspect KDH is his
I think ultimately its just been the latest in a long line of shambles. They arent good enough. They arent ready. They arent the right profiles and sometimes not even the right positions.

Yeah I can’t decide if I am rationally disagreeing with your player assessment or just irrationally hoping there is something good and there to work with, but we just haven’t seen it yet or they’ve not had enough time.
