Tim fluffed his chance to open the scoring just before Gana did, but how often when playing centre mid do you see James Garner ready to get on the end of a loose ball in the box?
To be fair to Garner, he's free and poised at the top of the box quite often to receive a Grealish square ball, before firing one in on target.

Much prefer our chances with a shot at goal from Garner, than Tim who unfortunately never seems to be able to find his feet when near the goal.

Would be amazed if he got into the England squad.

Someone like Alex Scott is still levels above him.

I’d say KDH probably has more of a chance.

I think he’s an average midfielder and I haven’t seen anything to prove me wrong on that.

Average is fine though. I look forward to the day we don’t have to play this lad every game.

If he was that good he wouldn't be getting lashed nto right back imo.

He's absolutely okay and has been great value, but he won't be a regular for England because he isn't good enough.

Garner being moved to right back is a sad reality of his ability as a midfielder

That O'Brien must be a really crap CB then, being moved out there for so many games.

It's options and necessities. If we had a decent right back Garner obviously wouldn't be there.

Versatility has never been more of a negative.

Mate him being average is hardly a minority view. The lads being used as a utility player in a team that screams for a holding midfielder. Hiya versatility makes him a good signing but he's not outstanding in any area

If your not good enough to be an undroppable midfielder in this midfield you are Very Okay at best.

One of the weirdest players we've had in terms of the fans views of him.

Not so much on here but more twitter etc I think people project the sort of midfielder they wish he was onto him. You see comparisons to Peter Reid, he's our best player, should be playing for England and all that absolutely baffles me.

He's average at best and both the stats and eye test confirm it.

It's not a bad thing I don't think and he's deffo having a good season, I'm very grateful we bought him and he's been great value. But does he go on to bigger and better things no probably not really.

He's just ok, nothing more nothing less, and cost us I think around £8m?

I don't understand why there are strong opinions either way tbh.
