Re: January Transfer Window
Man Utd have two legal entities, one of which doesn’t count towards PSR for some bizarre reasons
Re: January Transfer Window
That’s simply a function of revenue generation, Man U generate approx five times our revenue so can spend five times more, we will be closing the gap in the coming years but unlikely we will ever match.

Re: January Transfer Window
I know you were just making a general point, but per that list, they're actually spending 56 x more than we are...which seems bonkers for a team supposedly in the same league.
Re: January Transfer Window
That’s because they are a publicly listed company and we are not. I think they operate on a Propco/Opco basis, so Capital expenditure is separate from operating company income.Cereal Killer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 03, 2026 4:43 pm Man Utd have two legal entities, one of which doesn’t count towards PSR for some bizarre reasons

And they may well be overspending, depends how they cook the books and whether the PL can be arsed charging them or not.blueToffee wrote: ↑Tue Feb 03, 2026 5:28 pm I know you were just making a general point, but per that list, they're actually spending 56 x more than we are...which seems bonkers for a team supposedly in the same league.
The principal remains the same, according to the rules you are only allowed to spend a certain percentage of your income.

Re: January Transfer Window
Sure. I get that. Man United basically struck gold at the start of the PL era and have an insane spending power because of it.
Still think it's silly though that we use terms like "Financial fair play" when clubs in the same league are outspending others by 56 x or more and we're pretending it's a level playing field. It would be kinda funny if the pitches were physically tilted for each club to show what the imbalance actually is.

Re: January Transfer Window
Tbh, makes sense. As fans, I guess we all want to see developments and signings happen asap but the summer window is always the main one where serious long term signings and work is largely done. I’m content with that planBluedylan1 wrote:Andy Hunter saying that Moyes wanted more players in the window to push for Europe, but the club hierarchy preferred to keep more money for the summer window and the longterm rebuild.

True but unfortunately in the modern game, there are leagues within leagues.blueToffee wrote: I know you were just making a general point, but per that list, they're actually spending 56 x more than we are...which seems bonkers for a team supposedly in the same league.
