Haha.

I think he’s a very good centre half myself but nah for the blues.

He's definitely not the profile of player we should be targeting, and there's no world where he's affordable to us, or Man UTD or the player themselves would agree too... And he'd not want to come here anyway.

It's about as much a non starter as you can get.

Yeah, just absolutely the wrong profile for us. Maximizes Tarks to have a younger, pacy defender beside him. Benefits from his mentorship, complements him from a physical/traits standpoint.

I am just traumatized because Dyche very much wanted to bring Maguire in so he didn't have to "risk" starting Branthwaite last season. That's where he will default to, something he thinks is "certain" even if it's Ashley Young quality.

We are already tracking to being the oldest (or 2nd) squad in the division. That's a very precarious position to be in.

That stuff about maguire coming in because he didn’t want to play Brathwaite just isn’t true at all.

Where on earth do you get this stuff from?

Maguire would probably be excellent under Dyche in a vacuum.

The wages are absolutely impossible though. No way we can afford them.

What I would hope we'd do is put whatever is spendable into TWO developmental centre halves (hopefully at least one that isn't heavily right-side dominant). Let them battle it out to partner with Tarks, the other is the top reserve. We need depth, youth, and competition for places. In my view, anyway.

If it gets towards the end of the window and United aren’t able to move Maguire on then I’d absolutely take a loan deal.

He’d step in and be better than anything we could sign from the get go and would have a point to prove.

Don't think they are going to be willing to loan him for wages we could afford

He's played and done quite well last season. They might be happy to get his big wages off their books but I doubt that means on loan with them still paying at least half

Fortunately Maguire won't be going anywhere with Southgate taking over them.

Not until Southgate is sacked at Christmas anyway.

Not sure about that, they seem to be linked with every CB under the sun and will probably buy at least two

If we're taking a player off United, I'd rather we pursue the Sancho (unlikely) or Diallo route. Doesn't necessarily have to be like for like.

I'd be sad to see him go but the right thing to do is to sell, if the price is right.
