But like *corrupt*?

Who financially benefits from Everton, who have troubled exactly nobody in a sporting or business sense for the last 40 years, going down?

It's not a conspiracy, we're just ran very very poorly and left ourselves at risk of their incompetence.

I'd imagine the PL are very protective of their brand. Openly calling them corrupt because you don't like a decision may get you in a bit of trouble.
I'd be interested to know if they'd go after the people who paid for the banner or the bloke who owns the plane.

Such an odd position to take.

As the people in charge they should be completely above reproach and instead what we're seeing is them taking a stance that says they will punish the people it's safe to punish while giving themselves room to avoid punishing the money makers. Different sets of rules, and different punishment guidance for different teams.

It's like getting the sack for being 5 minutes late while watching people embezzle money from the company. Both are wrong but is the punishment fair? If it's not fair, what does that say about the people in charge and the things motivating their decisions?

Absolutely no reason why we can't run at a major loss as a company, but there's no requirement for the Premier League to allow us in to the competition.

Take away that right to play in their competition and you take away all our income meaning we cease to be viable as a business.

So really you're stuck having to abide by the rules because there is no viable alternative.

Obviously a super league would change all that, but we wouldn't be eligible for it and we'd still have their set of rules to follow should we be so.
This is the thing though really. The whole ruse behind FFP/P&S was that it would protect clubs from being run in an unsustainable fashion and end up like Leeds. So how can the punishment for a first time relatively minor breach be taken against the football club, where the result of said punishment is likely relegation and the financial stress that causes to the football club. Especially when we've been actively working with those punishing us(Let's not pretend the panel was really independant), have new owners coming in, and seem to be righting the ship. So we work hard for stability, and now face financial chaos, as even if we survive relegation we'll be £10-£20m worse off in prize money from higher league placings. If we don't survive, then we face being asset stripped to comply with the EFL's arbitrary financial rules, and then we're in a death spiral.

It should be a financial penalty against the custodians. From the Premier League's own justification for the breakaway clubs slaps on the wrist 'You can't punish the fans'.

A win today and we would have been 10th in the table instead of in the relegation zone, soul destroying.

Yeah they’re corrupt, always have been, it’s not specific to our situation

Newcastle ownership. They’ve got “cast iron guarantees” that the PIF fund isn’t a branch of the Saudi government

Despite their own website saying

“Under the chairmanship and guidance of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Board is responsible for overseeing PIF's long-term strategy, investment policy and performance”

Martin Samuel article in the Sunday Times is an excellent description of the corruption within the Premier League.

I think it's more the suggestion that the premier league want to self govern but potentially there's government oversight coming. So to prove they are capable of governing we are being over punished while they are not up to the task of dealing with City.

I wonder how out of their way they'll go to hide the stuff tomorrow.
Reportedly they aren’t going to use a live feed for fan noise. Going to use a pre-recorded fan noise because they are worried about the language that will be used by the supporters.

Such a farce to agree to do that before even one second of the match has been played.

To be fair it’s a stupid choice of chant to make on the 10th minute. The moment you suggest that you’re going to be chanting what can be deemed to be foul language they have the excuse they need to mute it.
A different choice of words and there would’ve been no case to do so.

Seems like PL is rolling out Ornstein as part of their defence. Was on NBC Sports saying "Man City's FFP charges 'extremely different' than Everton's" just more work towards setting the expectation that it's so "different" so that's why you can expect different outcomes.

In other words, maybe nothing happens with Man City.
