But then our right centre back and wing back need to cover Williams who’s just as goodBluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 1:46 pm I think they'll start with Trippier, because he's a right footed full back/wing back and that should give him a slight advantage against Yamal's signature move of cutting inside onto his left. Might see Shaw come on in the 2nd half if needed.
In all honesty Yamal has already given better fullbacks than both Shaw and Trippier a very hard time, notably Theo Hernandez who is miles better than both of them. You're going to need to help whoever is there out with either Guehi coming across from the left sided CB position to double up, or maybe Declan Rice covering across.
On a positive note, our LB position has been more defensive in this tournament anyway, so we're not going to lose too much if the left centre back and wing back just focus on defensive duties.

I think Walker specialises in locking down elite wingers, and raises his game for those kinds of challenges.Cereal Killer wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 4:01 pm But then our right centre back and wing back need to cover Williams who’s just as good![]()
He's not been great in this tournament and looks to be in decline, but hopefully he can get up for one big game.

Dunno whether to go down the pub or not.
Would hate to be in a packed pub with a load of people who aren’t into it that much and just out for the sake of it.
Also the scouse not English element could ruin it
Think I’ll stay in with a few beers where I know I’ll enjoy it.
Really fancy us. It feels like it’s our time after the last couple of tournaments.
I think our experience will be the deciding factor in this.

I also think we will win
Spain are like we were against Italy.
I hope.
I feel anxious but I felt more nervous before the last final!

Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
I'm talking myself into us winning this too.
Our run to the final just feels like the story of champions. The last final defeat gives them experience of the big occasion and the hunger to be better. Going in as underdogs takes the pressure off too.
However I just think that Harry Kane is destined never to win a fucking thing and I quickly talk myself out of it.

Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
I think the things going in our favour tonight are:
No team has attacked us yet, and doing so might open up space for Foden and Bellingham to play in.
Mainoo has locked down Rodri in a final previously.
We've showed great grit and character to score late goals so this will never be a comfortable match for Spain even if they're winning.
Do I think we can win? Absolutely?
Do I think we will win? 65% sure Spain will, but it doesn't mean we can't do I'm going to believe in that chance and believe this is our year.
Come on England!!!

BBC or ITV?
Not sure I can handle Sam Matterface.
Actually no, I definitely can't. Might watch the build up on ITV and the match on BBC.

Not even close imo.
BBC has the gravitas.

Made a paella instead didn't I, which I've just finished.
Thought process being that it won't be the only time the Spanish are dominated tonight.

BBC here too, will never believe ITV is a better option for this kind of thing even if it actually was.
Had a Cottage Pie for tea, BBC for the footy... Come on England!
