We only paid I believe 1.5M for him anyway. Not like we'd be making a hell of a loss on him, he's done more than justify that price during his time here.

Just hope we do have a genuine plan in place however if he does happen to leave like.

Is it logical. It makes almost no sense really. We need the money for a replacement. We need to make deals based on their current worth not what we paid for them. I'll only sell Keane for 35m because that's what we are behind in fee and wages.

Nah he’ll be fine, not like he’s completely shit and will struggle to get anyone to offer him anything

Get that we didn’t pay anything for him (in real terms) but if he does leave for nothing we have no money to replace him with!

Better we get some form of money in now and use it to pay for the replacement
I don’t see anyone sniffing around him ? No strong rumours connecting him with a Premier League club, with his injury record and poor goals record I doubt that we would get more than 10/15 million for which you won’t get much of a replacement, we got 15 million for Barclay who was a much better prospect at that time. Keep him, let him run his contract out, he will be playing to the best of his ability to secure a new contract or a good move.

You might see Newcastle or another club test us with a lower bid nearer the end of the window, which often happens with players going into the final year.

I'm calm either way tbh. If we keep him and he goes next year, sound, and if we decide to cash in this summer and bring another forward in, as long as they have some quality, sound.

WhatI mean is he won’t risk going into next season without a contract cos he knows if he has another bad injury his career could be over or not get another lucrative contract.

I'd rather keep him if nobody comes in for him. If he walks away then that's the risk you take. Hopefully Chermitti will be more established by then or Beto improves. Any money we get for Dom wouldn't cover a decent striker probably

One thing about that is that we are all complaing about our lack of Any kind of business model.
We all want us to buy young and cheap and sell on for a profit. If DCL leaves on free...

Yeah. Even though he only cost 1.5-2million. You have to factor in all the other young players we’ve bought in and paid wages too. It’s always somewhat of a gamble as you don’t know how players will develop. So if you have 10-20 youngsters you hope one becomes a mult million pound asset to offset the cost of the others who didn’t make the grade.

He’s clearly running down his contract, which is a bit of a shitty thing to do but it’s part of the game.

We signed him for £1.5m so can’t really complain.

He’s already turned down Newcastle this summer and I don’t see anybody better coming in for him.

If he wants that big move and big contract then he’ll have to perform.

If he ends up going to a top four team on a big contract by the end of the season then he would have had a great season here and considering how much we paid for him I could live with that.

Would rather we sold and replaced this summer, but kind of think it’s too late to be replacing your main striker now so maybe him staying and looking to get a big move suits all parties.

We certainly should not be giving him a massive contract. That’s off the table for me.

Give it a few weeks into the season, one of the teams who are meant to be performing well will have lost a couple of matches, they'll panic and put in a £25m bid for him.

The worry is that we won't have any time to get anyone in to replace him.

Otherwise I'd be happy with him here for another season. Big fan of DCL on and off the pitch.

Yeah this is one where the finances mean nothing to me. I love him and want him to stay as long as possible.

I don't understand this turning down Newcastle point you've made... Where's the info on it being him who rejected the move? Everything I've seen states we asked for daft money which Newcastle rightly had no interest in paying for a injury prone player in the last year of his contract.

I also don't see any issue with him 'running down his contract' as I highly doubt anyone's even come in for him with more than a fleeting interest and been scared off by our valuation. He'd probably leave if we accepted a bid, we haven't and he's under no obligation to sign a new contract of he doesn't want to, and who knows if we've even offered him a decent one that he'd want to sign.

The onus on him to leave or re-sign is very much also dependent on us having a realistic valuation for any interested teams and for us to offer him a contract he'd want to sign... It seems out valuation is insane and we have no idea what the terms of any new contract were.

It’s up to us to manage. We create and agree contract terms with players. When they are running down our assets are at risk so we should manage new contracts or contract extensions effectively or lose the player when they have fulfilled their obligation. They owe us nothing once they are out of contract.

But like Ram says, if he gets a big move on a free it means he will have done us some good this season.
