He’s out with a long term injury? 🤷‍♂️ won’t be going anywhere until January at earliest

I've no idea how much longer he's out for tbh. He needs a loan but because of our recruitment (or lack of) he's never had the chance. Another young player who's been good enough to 'do a job' as cover so couldn't be loaned out to play 25-30 games a season and learn his trade.

Definitely needs loaning out, preferably to a European league ala Brainthwaite rather than championship.

Definitely an upgrade, and probably about the best we can do with our limitations.

My enthusiasm is a bit tempered though as he was looking a bit suspect that last season or so for Newcastle. I didn't see a ton of Newcastle games, it was probably a handful and a lot of highlights and such but I do seem to recall quite a few moments with him where he looked like he was costing them at the back. The sort where you see them and think much like our own existing issues, oh he's just getting a bit old for the PL.

The game against us was shocking, and I think he followed it up in their following game.

Had some Gana Gueye style howlers that lead to goals against last season but he'd still be a million miles better than anything we have on the books.

Be nice to have someone who can take set pieces. Decent player and I agree that if it let's us get Patterson a loan where he'll play every week it's a good chance to see how he does and if he'll potentially be able to step up soon.

Don't like loan deals with 33 year olds. But more than that Dyche just called him Tripps.

Mistakes will be mitigated by our deeper formation as we won’t be playing on the front foot like Newcastle do. I’d be made up if we pulled this off.

Would also be good to have some more leadership at the back, not sure Young really is that just due to him being older it's seen that way. We need a solution if only for a season.

Horrendous is it, how so exactly ? I would love him to get a loan and come back a player - however, If a club put a bid in and offered him first team football, he would probably jump at it, for his own good.

If Everton got an offer, they would probably take it over a loan, as they don’t seem to have any faith in him and we are in financial disarray.

Horrendous is his positional sense and injury record, knee surgery one year, ankle surgery the next, then hamstring injuries.

Its a great move for a number of reasons.

Its cheap, he is a leader, vastly experienced, has played under Dyche before, needs first team football, is a set piece taker with a great cross, and seems like a good, hard working lad.

We need a right back and this fits the bill perfectly.
