Thought you rated him?777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 5:17 pm It's going to be very important to dyches career to keep us in the league. It's probably the difference between another 3 to 4m a year in his next job (with a fat survival bonus) or his next job being in the championship

Re: Next Everton Manager
Is there any world in which we can get Thomas Frank?
I think his style of football would go over great with our fans, attacking and progressive but still some old school physicality in it too.

Highly doubtful I'd say, also their away from is absolutely horrible, not sure we'd want to continue to be a team that's truly dreadful away?StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 7:02 pm Is there any world in which we can get Thomas Frank?

They were hopeless against Newcastle the other night too. I think he's done a great job overall there and there's a lot to be admired, but he doesn't stand out to me as someone I'd pay large amounts of compensation for.

It’s not good enough to just survive.
If we are right in a relegation battle by January then he needs to be replaced imo.
He’s got two relegations on his CV (if you count him getting sacked) and has put us in this position.
He needs to get results and move us up the table pretty quickly.

The amount of times we’ve been the better team against Brentford really puts me off him.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 7:02 pm Is there any world in which we can get Thomas Frank?

Yer man at Bournemouth is a better shout with a similar way of playing.
Re: Next Everton Manager
It’s true to say he put us in this position as were it not for him last season we were nailed on for relegation and would now more than likely be a Championship Club. This season started shite, the football is turgid but he will grind out sufficient points to avoid relegation. Nobody coming in in January is going to have us playing “the beautiful game” for the last five months of the season and it would cost money that we don’t have to spend so what’s the point, you have no guarantee that your dream manager whoever that may be will keep us up nor a guarantee that Dyche would but at this point in time he looks to me like the best bet and I couldn’t give a shit how unattractive the football is for the remaining five months, the re boot starts next season.TheRam wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 7:19 pm It’s not good enough to just survive.

I don’t care about how attractive the football is.
It just has to be good and effective and it hasn’t been this season.
Eventually we are going to have to find a way to score goals. If dyche can’t figure that then it’s hard to see us moving up the table.
You can’t just rely on set pieces.

Re: Next Everton Manager
I rate him for where we currently are. Think him keeping us up gets him a premier league job and getting us relegated probably doesn't. Of course he's going to be motivated to do his job even if he's going in the summer

2 relegations from about 10 years managing the team with the worst budget. It seems like a decent record.TheRam wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 7:19 pm It’s not good enough to just survive.

I just don't understand why we shouldn't be in a relegation battle. Small budget, awfully run club. If we don't want relegation battles surely we need to be spending more and making better decisions at all levels. I find it a bit weird that we've just suddenly decided we are above such things while we've still been spending nowt
Re: Next Everton Manager
Because we were good last season and have not seen any significant worsening of the squad so I don’t think we should be where we are currently.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 7:46 pm 2 relegations from about 10 years managing the team with the worst budget. It seems like a decent record.

I’m not deciding we’re above anything. Just simply judging the managers performance this season objectively.
Re: Next Everton Manager
Whilst there has not been any significant worsening of the squad the majority of other clubs have strengthened their squads, we were the fifth lowest net spenders in the 23/24 window, a negative spent, only Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle were below us with whom we don’t compete anyway, the other team was Wolves and we can see what happened to them.
Re: Next Everton Manager
Yet the squad is better this year than it was last year?Escalator wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 7:57 pm Whilst there has not been any significant worsening of the squad the majority of other clubs have strengthened their squads, we were the fifth lowest net spenders in the 23/24 window, a negative spent, only Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle were below us with whom we don’t compete anyway, the other team was Wolves and we can see what happened to them.
So the DoF seems to have pulled a master stroke.
But the manager is doing worse than he did last year with a better squad. Which is the kind of thing that calls into question his suitability.
FWIW, I think he should get to the Spurs game. So 6 games. Less than 4 points and I think we need to pull the trigger
Re: Next Everton Manager
Dyche is probably doing worse than last season overall but better than at some points too... Just depends on how people want to view it.
Needs to find points though whatever the part of the season people want to compare things to. He did it last season and if he doesn't this he'll be out because the new owners won't accept us being in a serious relegation scrap.

People massively underestimate the impact of fans in all of this.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 9:41 pm Dyche is probably doing worse than last season overall but better than at some points too... Just depends on how people want to view it.

Lampard never kept us up the fans did, similar to last season, Dyche did a lot better than Lampard but the fans created an atmosphere where it was us against the world, and it galvanised the team, Dyche did contribute to that, so fair play. This season there isn't that edge and theres certainly not that feeling of togetherness with the manager, it's tiring and feels like it's run it's course, and I don't think it's a coincidence that results have been impacted
