Whether the players there are good or not is a different matter
But centre mids in the squad - James Garner, Tim Iroegbunam, Merlin Rohl, Hayden Hackney, Harrison Armstrong, Charly Alcaraz, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Right backs in the squad - Nathan Patterson
Id be looking to resolve the position where we’ve only got 1 player who isn’t fancied by the manager whatsoever
Rather than the one we’re we’ve got 7 options
Not that I wouldn’t want to strengthen centre mid as well. But that right back spot has been a problem for about 5 years now

Outside of Tim I think we have one of the weakest midfields in the league.
Hackney will be eaten alive in there.
Massive priority. As is centre half and I see us not addressing either.
Mad for a guy who is usually on the money that you rate Tim so highly I think he is bang average and is always out of position and scrambling to get the ball back

Tim’s fucking crap an all so it is a worry like.
Anyone else just massively over it?
Yeah, pretty confident we’re going into next season with a pretty rubbish squad.
Been feeding off dopamine hits over the last five years with the relegation scraps, last years at Goodison, new owners, new ground.
Now that’s all come to an end we’re here, still rubbish and boring.

I think that's the worst thing for me.
It is just boring, we don't play what I would consider interesting football and we don't exceed expectations, it is just bumbling along not getting anywhere.

Competition in positions should drive standards and performance. There is a fair amount riding on the Hackney signing but then again, I would expect others to improve. Garner was excellent last year, and he will want to continue to be better. He just needs a solid partner.
Right back is the position to sort as it has been for years since Seamus was done. It’s astonishing that we are still talking about it and that nothing has been done. If we only signed a right back from here on in, and no one else, that would be ok for me. But it has to get done.

You think CM is a higher priority than a RB?????
100% yes. We've proven we can get results with JOB or Patterson at right back, it's shit, and not ideal and certainly something most wouldn't want. But I'm not sure we have anywhere near enough quality in centre midfield if we don't replace Gueye - we basically have Garner whose capable - that's it

Imagine how I feel, I don’t even rate Garner

Hackney isn’t tiny and I was surprised at how aggressive he is in his highlights reels. Going head to head with the big boys? Maybe not, but I doubt he’ll be eaten alive.

I don't really buy into that way of thinking. Midfield is where games are won and lost, and with those 7 players, I think we lose significantly more games than we win. The quality just isn't there, so the number is largely irrelevant. Otherwise, we might as well stockpile a few right backs from the under-21s and youth team so we have 3 or 4 on the books — and suddenly it wouldn't be seen as a priority either.
Right back is a massive issue 100% and we should have got one in by now, but I personally dont think its as big a priority as enhancing the quality in CM.

I couldn't disagree more, he won't play Patterson, he'll be on his way, what do we do if O'Brien gets injured?

Well Merlin Rohl barely got a kick and was most recently played as a rb
Tim is wanted by ipswich and we are apparently happy for him to go
Charly is not rated
Hackney possibly a ten and is new and untested
KDH a ten in Moyes mind
Harrison Armstrong likely to be on loan again or otherwise warming the bench
How many prem players do we have in CM, 2 certainties and one of those is Tim.

At a push, Garner or Rohl at RB.
But just saying that shows how ridiculous our recruitment has been and still is in the RB area.

I think Hackney is going to be quality for us.
